Toxic heavy metal. Use this at your own risk. AMB brand makes carcinogenic products with toxic chemicals then markets them as "pure" and "natural". BUYER BEWARE!!!
Changed formula is no good! Questionable ingredients!
Posted by PurplePegasus on Jan 09, 2009
They changed the formula on this and now it not only smells stronger (I have fragrance sensitivities) but also it doesn't work as an AHA like the original formula did. I have very dry skin (with oily combo) and this used to remove all the flakes and prep the skin nicely to absorb moisturizer. Now it doesn't. My skin is as dry after as it was before using it. This formula foams up more but doesn't do the job. Why did they have to change the formula!? On top of that many ingredients are questionable! If you can't pronounce it but they claim it comes from nature or coconut, you know it's been chemically altered/treated. Of course "everything" comes from nature, even toxic chemicals and carcinogens: aliens didn't drop off a package on Earth full of "unnatural" ingredients! Disappointed in this company which was supposed to support environment and use wholesome ingredients. They fail in both counts! Ev
Excellent for bloating
Posted by PurplePegasus on Jun 12, 2013
Finally found probiotics that do something! I always thought before that they were all expired as they're known to not be shelf stable, even the refrigerated ones. However I have done several liver cleanses for over a year and doing a gut cleanse as well so I think now this stuff has a chance to adhere. For the first time I can see what I look without bloating. Need new, smaller jeans!
Delicious sweet berry taste... but my container arrived half full!
Posted by PurplePegasus on Nov 05, 2012
I understand about product being concentrated and "settling" but this is ridiculous: Madre Labs ought to commission containers that are half the size they use because it is deceptive, and had I paid full price instead of the 62% off special, I would not be happy. That said, I've used this product before from gracious iHerb samples and it is delicious. It gives a great taste to my homemade vitamin water which I make with 2 scoops of Madre Labs C and 2 of this and chlorophyll. Does it work as a potent antioxidant? I don't think I'll be able to tell but I trust it does since Madre Labs is very reputable company that uses high quality ingredients. However the container does NOT bear the ORGANIC logo and this has me a bit worried. Considering that some food products & cosmetic creams that are only 70% organic are allowed to bear it, what is the problem since 100% of the fruits used are either organic or wildcrafted, which is the same thing: no synthetic pesticides or other toxins used in cultivation. On top of that, why does it imply there's no vitamin C in this? How is this possible if the fruits are all organic and high in vitamin C content?? Something has me worried here and because of this, I doubt I will purchase this again when it goes back to full price. Having raised this concerns, I'm still giving this 5 stars for quality ingredients and excellent taste.
Instant side effects with only 1/3 scoop!
Posted by PurplePegasus on Feb 23, 2013
This gave me a pressure headache within minutes of ingestion. I show symptoms of homocystinuria which might simply be mimicked by candida's malabsorption syndrome, the resutls are the same since I can't digest/metabolize B vitamins! Anyway, extensive research on homocystinuria led me to purchasing this item. I woke up just past 5am, a bit later than I wanted and right after breakfast started experiencing CFIDS/herxheimer symptoms. Thinking this would alleviate the fatigue, I put 1/3rd of a scoop in an empty capsule. Bad idea! I became instantly confused, with an incipient headache and just this feeling of overall malaise. Thankfully I keep charcoal caps at hand: they mop up toxins, medicines and supplements OD alike. I took 2 and within minutes experienced relief from the TMG side effects in the sense of head pressure gone, brain fog and fatigue lifted. I did a quick google on the side effects: many people at forums report the exact same thing. What a bummer! I thought this was the missing link, I guess not! Also please note: 1) There is no info provided as to whether this is the toxic synthetic TMG (now I do wonder!) or whether it's derived from natural sources. 2) Whereas shampoo bottles give detailed step by step instructions on where to apply the shampoo and what to do with it once you have hand to head, this bottle leaves us absolutely in the dark! It doesn't say whether to take on empty stomach or after a meal; it doesn't even tell us whether to drop the powder in food, tongue or how. I have empty capsules, if you do not, I don't know how palatable this is, might be bitter or sweet, don't know! On the plus side, there is a really cute tiny scoop inside this bottle. I guess 1 star for cute mini scoop! :-|
By far the best & healthiest sea salt of them all!
Posted by PurplePegasus on Nov 22, 2012
And I've tried many from different countries. I even prefer this one to the Fleur de Sel de Guerande which I had imported a few years ago. This one is truly gray and not white, as real sea salt ought to be. Nice bonus: it's a huge bottle, double the size on a normal shaker that I expected. (I'm not good at figuring out ounces, so I never know what I'm going to get!) The only drawback here is the plastic shaker. It's flexible plastic which definitely means high BPA content! Yikes! On the plus side I had this shipped in cold weather and my place is almost constantly a/c'd, even winter nights. A lucite shaker would have been so much better if they couldn't afford glass though! This salt makes food taste the best out of all sea salts I've tried, it's genuine Celtic (which strangely enough means from France and not Ireland, still haven't figured out why) and therefore it is the healthiest and the gray color can attest to that. I've always felt a bit sketchy using Trader Joe's white sea salt from Spain and now my mind is at ease over that. I have severe adrenal insufficiency and salt is vital to me.
The Alchemist's Secret: transform mood & room karma with a spritz of this relaxing elixir!
Posted by PurplePegasus on Jan 25, 2014
Although this is not the pure French lavender scent I'm familiar with and prefer, after a while I got used to this scent. I used it during a phase of mental chaos and panic attacks and I must say, it's very comforting and soothing. I have read that bees who pollinate the lavender fields get so drunk on the nectar that they let people pet them. And that if one wants to help and attract bees, one ought to plant lavender in their garden. On an energetic level, lavender acts as a transmuting force for good. For those into chakras and etheric bodies, this is extremely powerful and yet very gentle and subtly transformational. Of course, this is not going to put out an insomniac, particularly when there's hormonal issues and/or nutritional deficiencies, but nevertheless, if you let it, it will ease your mind a bit of obsessive or persisting thoughts. A few sprays might be necessary. The aluminum can means the sprays will always be very cool. When I mist my body, I find it leaves no sticky residue and the skin is instantly dry (but then again, I live in the mainly arid, desert climate of Southern California). The scent does linger a bit, which is a surprise as natural EOs are naturally volatile and this is a top note which is very ephemeral. All in all, an excellent product. I'm withdrawing a star because I prefer the true French lavender, because of the aluminum can (would prefer glass for safety reasons since I was diagnosed with aluminum toxicity already) and because it is not organic. Although, to me, it has room for improvement, the effects are immediate and pretty impressive. I use it as a room spritz as well as body spray. If the smell disappoints you like it did me at first, keep trying it, it gets better, or at least it did for me. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!
Torula yeast is a very dangerous product!
Posted by PurplePegasus on Nov 23, 2012
Unfortunately I didn't google it until after I removed the seal. I haven't tried this: a search on torula yeast led to some very spooky health hazards. It's a toxin that grows on trees and makes candida albicans worse and a whole host of nasties. I will contact the manufacturer and see if I can return to them. This brand is also questionable from what I saw at their website.
Beautiful deep wine, opal & creamy lip balm
Posted by PurplePegasus on Nov 21, 2012
Reviewed this years ago, let's see if it publishes now... This is fun & being 100% organic, it's much better than lipsticks. I had not realized there were 2 colors one on each end. As a lip balm this is very healing, creamy and moisturizing without being oily. Feels as great as the regular Badger lip balms. It smells like roasted cacao beans & the scent does linger. I have MCS & am allergic to chemical smells. Strong as this smells, it doesn't bother me & smell fades away progressively. So far as color, the garnet is a deep wine color. It is very natural looking which is what I was looking for. It is matte and not sheer. Applying a little makes for a natural look or you can go bolder with a few applications. The opal shade allows you to control how dark you want the garnet, just apply on top to tone it down. The opal can also be used on its own, it's a nude color that makes for a beige/pinkish lip with a slightly frosted finish. I have big lips: the garnet gives the illusion of smaller lips, the opal makes them stand out refracting light at the center.
It's no longer organic?
Posted by PurplePegasus on Feb 16, 2014
The product tastes fine and is effective but I've purchased it before and the label used to bear "organic". Now it doesn't even say "wildcrafted", which to me translates to "loaded with toxic pesticides and herbicides". Since I have life-threatening illness due to mainly a toxic liver and MCS, I can't filter out toxins like a normal person can. I contacted the vendor and they refused to answer my question, hence my removing 2 stars. I am sad about this situation and don't know what to make of it, I used to trust this company as putting out quality syrups. I had their salve & sprays in my basket and removed all when I received their reply refusing to address my question. That was strange. I'm sorry that's the best review I can honestly leave. I hope they will reply here or the labels will be updated or explained.
Healthy Origins is NOT a brand I can trust and this COQ10 is NOT effective at all!!!
Posted by PurplePegasus on Jul 16, 2012
Under the wholesome name of Healthy Origins lies a deceptive brand. I would say Dr's Best is the worst brand of supplements I've ever tried and this follows closely. Something's wrong with this COQ10. I like the idea it presents on the label but I'm now back to taking a generic health store brand & I can now see the difference; just 60mg of COQ10 in a capsule and I feel so much better, a little energized, circulation improved. UPDATE: I'm sorry to say but I've finished my 3rd bottle of this Q10 and it has done absolutely nothing for me. Will not buy again.
Youthens skin fast! Also stops cold sores
Posted by PurplePegasus on Nov 10, 2012
I bought this years ago & I guess I never reviewed it. I apply some powder with gel to my lip whenever a cold sore breaks out and it shortens the duration, stops the burning pain & even prevents outbreak if I apply it when my lip tingles. That's topically, I also would fill out a empty cap and take some. Recently I noticed my face seemed to be ageing prematurely due to steroid meds from years ago. A quick search told me this supplement rebuilds collagen if taken with proline and vit C, which I had both on hand. After almost 1 week of taking 1 cap of both aminos & 1 of whole food C both upon arising and before bed (on empty stomach), I no longer wake up with deep skin depressions and when I did at first, they plumped right back up. I found this info linked with a Dr. Linus Pauling and this is supposed to be a treatment for veins and high cholesterol which I'm plagued by so I hope this will help with clearing those arteries as I'm prone to vein pain and poor circulation. But so far as face/skin, this has got to be the world's best kept secret! No more need for fancy creams which don't work, and no chemicals here either. I love it!
