I hope my reviews will be helpful in assisting you to choose your products. I'm dealing with overlapping illnesses, so a lot of symptoms to treat. I try to review things that are not listed and hard to figure out online such as packaging type (is that bottle safe glass or is it toxic-plastic?) and contents (does that tea have a staple, string or simply pressed together?). Please keep in mind that I live in Southern California and that arid weather is very different than humid so, things that work for me, such as moisturizers or creams, might be too rich for you. Also skin types differ, I'm both oily and dry currently so I try to indicate all that. On occasion, I'll add humor to my reviews, particularly if I was unhappy (humor heals) and I love to vote Yes on others' helpful reviews. Thank you to those of you who remember to afford me the same courtesy. Welcome to my page and hope you find some fun, helpful or delicious products you hadn't tried before. Be well, everyone.

Excellent vitamin C but bottle too hard to open & contains yeast

Posted on Jan 28, 2013

The C is great. I just wish GOL would be done with the needless child-proof caps which are bolted on so tight they're nearly impossible to open even for a burly man, and particularly if you have wrist pain to begin with. People with kids need to learn to store their stuff high on shelves where kids can't access them, it's not fair to punish the intelligent, kid-free and/or otherwise normal consumers. I've already contacted GOL years ago and they told me others had complained too but they don't seem bothered enough by their customers needs to change. For those who literally can't handle GOL's "bolted-on", hard-to-open caps, Megafood is the better alternative. Also Megafood puts no soy and no yeast in their products, unlike GOL & New Chapter. However Megafood does list questionable "vegetable lubricant" in many of their pills which might be code for "magnesium stearate" or goodness knows what, however that stuff is nearly impossible to avoid. I wish I could give it 5 stars because the C deserves it as it works well for colds & flu but there's too many problems with GOL products, sorry, just leaving an honest review. Madre Labs trumps all these in purity and gets 5 stars but sometimes I don't have the energy to make the vitamin water mix or the taste for it, I just need to take a quick pill.

Extremely salty, toasted taste & very filling

Posted on Dec 04, 2012

I'm downgrading from 4 stars to 1: I just can't eat these. The burnt taste is overpowering. My original review: These are extremely salty, incredibly so. It's good for me since I have hyponatremia, but you might be very shocked by the high level of sodium in your taste buds. They also taste very roasted, a bit burnt, which leads me to wonder how can these be raw. I know they label raw stuff that has been heated no higher than a certain temp (?) which to me defeats the purpose of raw, so I have no idea if these are really raw. They certainly don't taste it: they're crunchy but do not hurt my sensitive teeth. As for sprouted, well I haven't found a single sprout yet, and I've looked! I find they fill me very fast due probably the high levels of fiber and nutrients, but also because of the saltiness and burnt taste, I can't really eat as many as regular seeds when before I know it, half a bag is gone. After a while, my tongue burns. To me, the roasted taste is just not very appealing but will eat them for the nutrients. And that's why I give them such high marks, and for using real Celtic sea salt. If I had to grade these on taste only, it would probably be one star. Not sure if I'll purchase again. I prefer pistachios but iHerb doesn't carry them raw.

Doesn't work but loaded with toxic ingredients!

Posted on May 17, 2009

So much for Dr. Perricone's claims on PBS! Not only doesn't this product work in the least for weight loss, it is loaded with dangerous ingredients such as Dicalcium Phosphate, Sucrose, Fatty acid ester, Silicia! (??) I mean if you're taking this to balance blood sugars why add "sucrose" to the equation?! It's like commercial toothpastes that are loaded with sugar! I wish I could give this negative stars to diminish the 5 stars the others gave when they clearly wrote that they had no idea if it works or not. Well I'm here to tell you: save your money and buy some chromium instead: it does not!

Excellent for bloating

Finally found probiotics that do something! I always thought before that they were all expired as they're known to not be shelf stable, even the refrigerated ones. However I have done several liver cleanses for over a year and doing a gut cleanse as well so I think now this stuff has a chance to adhere. For the first time I can see what I look without bloating. Need new, smaller jeans!

Beautiful deep wine, opal & creamy lip balm

Posted on Nov 21, 2012

Reviewed this years ago, let's see if it publishes now... This is fun & being 100% organic, it's much better than lipsticks. I had not realized there were 2 colors one on each end. As a lip balm this is very healing, creamy and moisturizing without being oily. Feels as great as the regular Badger lip balms. It smells like roasted cacao beans & the scent does linger. I have MCS & am allergic to chemical smells. Strong as this smells, it doesn't bother me & smell fades away progressively. So far as color, the garnet is a deep wine color. It is very natural looking which is what I was looking for. It is matte and not sheer. Applying a little makes for a natural look or you can go bolder with a few applications. The opal shade allows you to control how dark you want the garnet, just apply on top to tone it down. The opal can also be used on its own, it's a nude color that makes for a beige/pinkish lip with a slightly frosted finish. I have big lips: the garnet gives the illusion of smaller lips, the opal makes them stand out refracting light at the center.

Taste is delicious but 2 questionable ingredients for an organic jam

Posted on Feb 21, 2014

17 people found the following review helpful

The taste truly deserves 5 stars. It's a bit hard to spread as there's a lot of thick chunks of strawberries. That is not the problem. This jam contains 2 dubious ingredients as research indicates they always come from GMO corn, unless specifically otherwise disclosed that they are processed from the very expensive camu, which is here unlikely. Since I have MCS and an impaired liver, it's important to me but this might not be a concern to the very healthy person. These ingredients are ascorbic acid and citric acid; the latter is said to always contain hidden MSG, so it does worry me. I did not react but I want to point this out both in the hopes that Crofter's will remove these unnecessary ingredients and for people who, like me, are either impaired and/or concerned about long term health effects. Sadly, this is the best organic jam (or fruit spread or jelly) currently available on iHerb so far as ingredients. I might purchase again, but it does worry me. I wish I were healthier and could eat anything without guilt.

Too many clashing flavors make this chocolate very unappetizing to me!

Posted on Jan 09, 2013

17 people found the following review helpful

I expected a dark chocolate with a white coconut center. Instead I have a chocolate that cannot decide whether it wants to taste dark or milk (it's a toss up, really) and I don't know if this thing is sweet or salty. I had completely missed the "sea salt" part. Not sure why anyone would want salt in their sweets but I sure don't. There's lots of crunchy bits of sea salt in this but no coconut flavor that I can't detect. Honestly, I'm censoring myself of all the negative adjectives I could give this thing. I would give it 1 star for taste but I'll up it to two for being organic and because I love Peru but this chocolate truly is a dud, sorry!

Changed formula is no good! Questionable ingredients!

Posted on Jan 09, 2009

25 people found the following review helpful

They changed the formula on this and now it not only smells stronger (I have fragrance sensitivities) but also it doesn't work as an AHA like the original formula did. I have very dry skin (with oily combo) and this used to remove all the flakes and prep the skin nicely to absorb moisturizer. Now it doesn't. My skin is as dry after as it was before using it. This formula foams up more but doesn't do the job. Why did they have to change the formula!? On top of that many ingredients are questionable! If you can't pronounce it but they claim it comes from nature or coconut, you know it's been chemically altered/treated. Of course "everything" comes from nature, even toxic chemicals and carcinogens: aliens didn't drop off a package on Earth full of "unnatural" ingredients! Disappointed in this company which was supposed to support environment and use wholesome ingredients. They fail in both counts! Ev

BEWARE: GMO granules strongly suspected!

I contacted Bluebonnet several times to ask to see certification or some kind of guarantee that their lecithin is non-GMO (since their label does not say organic nor IPP, the only two certifications that guarantee the soy is non-GMO, and their website has no info whatsoever) and they refuse to answer! I phoned and emailed them several times and they hide behind voice mail, do not return emails or phone calls. I URGE EVERYONE to contact Bluebonnet and demand to see certification! In the interim, boycott this unethical company. My can is unopened and will be returning it to iHerb.

NOT VEGAN: comes from sheep's lanolin!

Posted on Jan 25, 2010

Editing my review: just got off the phone with HO and they told me that this vitamin comes from sheep's wool! 2 free samples of this D sold me on this D: I ordered a bottle because it's an excellent vitamin D (my Dr. said I was very deficient) and it protects against colds & (swine) flu. It's best to take 1 pill x4/day. If taking too much of any D at once, it is too strong a diuretic. Best to split it up during the day, all day protection that way.

Delicious and very calming

Posted on Jul 11, 2013

I woke up not feeling too well. I picked up my iHerb package and made a cup of this tea. It's very comforting, the box says "nurture your soul" and I couldn't agree more. It took away the discomfort and I now find myself feeling peaceful and calm. What a great tea. The taste is very mild spicy, fragrant, not overpowering, exactly the quality you'd expect from an organic, non adulterated tea. This is 100% pure and no added flavors. I'm reviewing this after my first cup, it is that good. I only brewed it just a minute & half because green tea starts to become bitter after more than 60 secs but this is not green and the box says you can brew 4-5 min so will try that next time see how the stronger taste is. At any rate, I drink teas for their nourishing nutrients and this definitely gives instant mental benefits. I trust that the antioxidants are working their magic and the physical benefits one can't gauge are there as well. A very reputable company that does not use toxic "natural flavors" with hidden chemicals. I'll come back to them and buy more of this for friends.

Excellent toner for oily and dry skin

Posted on Nov 23, 2012

8 people found the following review helpful

This is an amazing toner which I've used for a while but hadn't gotten it thru here previously. I just didn't know this size bottle was this huge! Wow! On top of that, there is a plastic reducer inside which makes the hole very small so as not to waste liquid. Fantastic! That right there speaks volumes of a company who cares about their customers being happy rather than profit. I have combo oily/dry skin at the same time but, luckily, I live in arid climate so my oiliness only manifests when our weather gets weird and humid. This cuts thru the grease nicely yet gently. Also it does not irritate nor dry out my skin which is always dry whether my skin acts oily or not. This has no glycerin to make my skin feel sticky. Just pure organic ingredients by a great company with a very ethical owner. I'm hoping it can help shrink my pores which have sadly enlarged again due to the recent monsoon humidity we had just this week! Will update if it works. It's made in France, somewhere near Grasse where the most expensive French perfumes are made and where some of the most outstanding perfume ingredients/flowers are grown. By the way, this is a glass bottle! Kudos to L'Uvalla for that as well!
