I hope my reviews will be helpful in assisting you to choose your products. I'm dealing with overlapping illnesses, so a lot of symptoms to treat. I try to review things that are not listed and hard to figure out online such as packaging type (is that bottle safe glass or is it toxic-plastic?) and contents (does that tea have a staple, string or simply pressed together?). Please keep in mind that I live in Southern California and that arid weather is very different than humid so, things that work for me, such as moisturizers or creams, might be too rich for you. Also skin types differ, I'm both oily and dry currently so I try to indicate all that. On occasion, I'll add humor to my reviews, particularly if I was unhappy (humor heals) and I love to vote Yes on others' helpful reviews. Thank you to those of you who remember to afford me the same courtesy. Welcome to my page and hope you find some fun, helpful or delicious products you hadn't tried before. Be well, everyone.

The Alchemist's Secret: transform mood & room karma with a spritz of this relaxing elixir!

Posted on Jan 25, 2014

Although this is not the pure French lavender scent I'm familiar with and prefer, after a while I got used to this scent. I used it during a phase of mental chaos and panic attacks and I must say, it's very comforting and soothing. I have read that bees who pollinate the lavender fields get so drunk on the nectar that they let people pet them. And that if one wants to help and attract bees, one ought to plant lavender in their garden. On an energetic level, lavender acts as a transmuting force for good. For those into chakras and etheric bodies, this is extremely powerful and yet very gentle and subtly transformational. Of course, this is not going to put out an insomniac, particularly when there's hormonal issues and/or nutritional deficiencies, but nevertheless, if you let it, it will ease your mind a bit of obsessive or persisting thoughts. A few sprays might be necessary. The aluminum can means the sprays will always be very cool. When I mist my body, I find it leaves no sticky residue and the skin is instantly dry (but then again, I live in the mainly arid, desert climate of Southern California). The scent does linger a bit, which is a surprise as natural EOs are naturally volatile and this is a top note which is very ephemeral. All in all, an excellent product. I'm withdrawing a star because I prefer the true French lavender, because of the aluminum can (would prefer glass for safety reasons since I was diagnosed with aluminum toxicity already) and because it is not organic. Although, to me, it has room for improvement, the effects are immediate and pretty impressive. I use it as a room spritz as well as body spray. If the smell disappoints you like it did me at first, keep trying it, it gets better, or at least it did for me. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!

It's ok

I didn't find it particularly fragrant nor powerful. I'm not impressed and won't purchase again. I'm glad to read there's many others who find it weak and smells off, it's not just me! It's the product. This smells nothing like the eucalyptus I knew as a kid for sinus steam inhalation. 3 stars for being organic but a disappointing purchase.

It's actually pretty good

This is mild dark taste, not bitter and the salt just adds a bit of kick but overall it's sweet. I didn't buy this for years as I didn't want any salt in my chocolate. The almonds are not hurting my very sensitive teeth so far. I might repurchase. 3 stars because it's not organic and not really spectacular like the one iHerb sadly stopped carrying, the ginger candy one.

Nothing natural, loaded w/toxic ingredients!

Currently shopping for natural B complex. Happened on this item and I'm utterly shocked: not only is there 0 indication that the B vitamins come from 100% natural, non-GMO, non-synthetic source, the "other ingredients" are highly toxic! Just google each one of them and you will see clearly the dangers & the side effects for: Dicalcium Phosphate, Croscarmellose Sodium, Stearic Acid, Silicon Dioxide, Dextrin, Magnesium Stearate, Titanium Dioxide. Unfortunately the magnesium stearate is one that is hard to avoid but the rest on the list are far more toxic! Why buy a supplement that causes migraines & possibly cancer?

Save your money: it does NOT work on 100% cotton!

Posted on Feb 14, 2013

And why use a chemical-free detergent unless you also wear chemical-free fabrics!? I'm not sure why anyone would bother with that but if you, too, have MCS and can only wear natural fabrics, save your money: it doesn't do anything at all! I tried it on a dirty white shirt (grayed cuffs as if I'd moped the floor with them, no idea how that happened): didn't work. I tried it on the collar: same thing and I tried it on a small tomato stain: it didn't budge one bit! :-/ I don't know why this thing has 4.5 stars from nearly 500 reviews but here you have my honest review on 100% untreated Pima cotton. I guess the one star can make itself useful: it is completely unscented and caused me no reaction whatsoever... but what good is it!?

NOT VEGAN: comes from sheep's lanolin!

Editing my review: just got off the phone with HO and they told me that this vitamin comes from sheep's wool! 2 free samples of this D sold me on this D: I ordered a bottle because it's an excellent vitamin D (my Dr. said I was very deficient) and it protects against colds & (swine) flu. It's best to take 1 pill x4/day. If taking too much of any D at once, it is too strong a diuretic. Best to split it up during the day, all day protection that way.

Excellent for circulation & against wrinkles

I take this with vitamin E for activation and against leg vein pain & poor circulation. It helps. I take 3 per day. It's also a potent antioxidant that is said to prevent and reverse wrinkles. I'm taking a lot of skin supplements & I've seen a remarkable improvement in the skin of my face.

For now from GMO-free corn, purified to remove all traces of corn residue

Posted on Nov 07, 2014

7 people found the following review helpful

As promised, I am editing this, as I not only just spoke with Bill at California Gold Nutrition, but also tried this product for a few days after reading the links provided by CGN in response to another apprehensive reviewer. On those links, I learned that the end product is purified to remove all traces of corn. I guess it's like when omega 3 companies purify fish oils to remove all traces of PCB's and mercury. We no longer live in a pollution-free world but thanks to caring companies like these we can again reap the benefits of pristine supplements to better our health. From my conversation, I learned that CGN is very passionate about health and a strict no GMO policy. And they really care about health and their customers. As for my experience trying this Quali-C: I have adrenal failure and C is critical for them to function normally; since I also have scurvy, I took 5, maybe 6 pills per day. Right away, I felt more balanced, more calm, better. After 3 days I noticed that my extreme dry skin was less so, and my nasolabial sleep depressions looked somewhat plumped out. My gums, which break out in blisters at my worst of scurvy, were better. Even my prematurely gray hair appears darker (Could it be? I'm still debating if that is my imagination!) After such a short time, the results are very impressive! My final verdict is, if I might prefer whole food organic C for maintenance, this is also organic-based and the synthesized end product, Ascorbic acid seems to have some potent THERAPEUTIC effects. I would take 10 per day easily, considering my need is great here. As of now, Scotland is still one of the few countries banning and resisting GMOs. Since it failed to secede from the UK, this might not be the case in a few years. I would definitely stock up on these before then. And flu season is upon us! About my skin, and for full disclosure, I must add that, since I can no longer afford to try Devita's C serum, I made my own by adding 1/8th of a capsule of this C into a small glass bottle filled with 1/2 oz spring water and 1 drop of retinol. I sprayed my fingers and gently pressed on my face (except under eye). No grittiness just a soft feeling, and I also sprayed my poor gums. (I also use bloodroot, see my profile for that). My fear is that this might sell out if I hit "send" now, particularly with the UK pressure on Scotland, but I needed to correct my former review now that I have more info for those who needed more facts ASAP. My thanks to Bill for calling me and addressing my concerns. I trust that iHerb will maintain low prices here and restock ASAP. I hope this helps someone with liver failure and/or scurvy like me, and those who shun GMOs like I do. Be well, everyone :)

Helps with hormonal imbalances/fatigue

Posted on Jul 21, 2013

It's not the best tea by any means. It tastes rather peppery and roasted, a bit like burnt toast. It's not exactly unpleasant to the taste. Since I have so many symptoms to take care of, and there's only so much tea I can drink, I combined this with 1 elderberry tea bag. Not the best combination. The elderberries did sweeten the taste a bit with their fruity flavor but the strong vitex taste persisted. Nevertheless, this does its job of helping counteract overwhelming fatigue and discomfort brought by severe hormonal imbalances (namely high levels of toxic estrogen); it does this by stimulating the brain (hypothalamus or pituitary, I forget) to secrete more progesterone, thus balancing out these 2 hormones. I'll probably buy again, though caps are easiest, but it tastes better than the liquid extracts.

A bit too oily for me but goes on smooth and almost no flavor at all

Posted on Jun 19, 2013

7 people found the following review helpful

I'm not sure why iHerb switched the name from Madre Labs or Madre Bees to Sierra Bees so that's why the search turned up nothing. Anyway this is a pretty good lip balm. A bit too oily for my taste but less oily than Badger brand lip balms. It is also less overpowering in the cocoa butter smell so it's really pretty good. The reason why I'm giving 3 stars, besides the oily feel, is because, unlike my favorite lip balm, it doesn't do anything for chapped lips as, unlike that one, it does not exfoliate at all. I have MCS so the no scent/no taste works for me.

I love its gorgeous lavender wrapper!

Posted on Dec 10, 2012

The chocolate is ok, sort of between milk and dark. I found it has a relaxing effect, mildly euphoric. I love the color of the wrapper and bought it again for that but unfortunately the 2 new bars arrived crushed. It's not the best chocolate but if I'm relaxed it gives me a strange happy feeling and if I'm not in a good place it relaxes me.

Does NOT have any significant orange flavor I can taste!

Posted on Oct 28, 2012

7 people found the following review helpful

Unfortunately each time I buy more than 1 new item from iHerb it turns out to be a dud, my bad! I bought at my local store Newman's Organics dark orange chocolate and it is heavenly, almost feels like those chocolate covered jelly oranges. Since I couldn't find it at iHerb and the weather had cooled down enough that I would not receive melted bars again, I purchased 3. Big mistake! For starters this tastes nothing at all like orange flavor unlike the other. The chewy/crunchy bits bother me: not only are they tasteless but they are NOT ORGANIC! And considering the recent scandal on the news about oranges being heavily sprayed not only with pesticides but with a very toxic fungicide, I won't be buying this again. However this was my fault for completely missing "peel", I just thought I was buying orange oil chocolate. My bad. But what was NOT my bad is iHerb's terrible packaging: I have been complaining to iHerb since January 2012 about chocolate being tossed in my packages without any bubble wrap any longer: it invariably arrives all crushed. And no, it does not taste the same. I don't know how else to get thru to iHerb on this. There is no way to contact the shipping department. My chocolate is invariably packed either under heavy cans or heavy jars! Either that or UPS plays soccer with my packages. Because of all this (and the hot weather) I've resumed shopping locally. That's 9 months of speaking up and not getting any positive resolution; in fact since I spoke up the packaging problem has become a lot worse with my coconut waters tossed upside down instead of right side up like I requested them many times: originally they were shipped sideways! I don't want to quit shopping iHerb but what else can I do when shipping has dropped to such poor packaging standards!?
