My comment on Galantamind is purely anecdotal, and you'll never find it in JAMA. But I've been in my body for almost 60 years, and I know when a product I've ingested makes a difference, either good or bad. In my case, Galantamind has helped my short-term memory enormously, which has been going south since my menopause. (My long-term memory is fine. Ask my husband the antedeluvian things I bring up when we disagree.) And nothing in my diet or routine has changed since taking it. I do have a new job which I started a week before taking the Galantamind. It's an eight-hour day of comparing computer data (especially long tax ID numbers) from online insurance forms against our database info. It's like playing the old TV game "Concentration," except if I don't catch on, I get fired. I am competing with kids half my age who have played computer games all their lives and have excellent hand-eye coordination and seemingly photographic memories. The first few days on the job were a nightmare. But I am now holding my own and improving each day. I take one 8 mg capsule of Galantamind in the morning and one with lunch. I haven't had any stomach upset (always taking it with food). Does the Galantamind have anything to do with my improving short-term memory? I am too much of a skeptic to be a good candidate for the placebo effect. Granted, the mental calisthenics on my job have a sharpening effect. But you cannot pull a rabbit out of a hat unless there already is a rabbit in the hat...or in this case, Galantamind.
