Best dried figs I

Posted on Apr 12, 2013

These are fat, luscious and very moist figs. I don't especially like figs, but I do want their fiber, potassium and phytosterals power. Figs are considered one of the most concentrated sources of phytosterols, which can block cholesteral absorption in the body (source: "The World's Healthiest Foods" by George Mateljan). These are pleasant to eat and unlike fresh figs, which have a very short shelf life, these last a long time.

The only powdered vegetable broth I use

Posted on Apr 12, 2013

I have tried many, many powdered broths over the years, but this is my tried and true favorite. It yields a very flavorful, golden broth flecked with bits of parsley. The vegetables are organic, the salt is sea salt, and it also contains turmeric, something we all need more of in our diets to counter inflammation in the body. Also, if you like the method of cooking fresh vegetables for a short time in a small amount of liquid, this will intensify their flavor.

Nice addition to skin-care regimen

Posted on Apr 12, 2013

A spritz of this to your face and neck before you moisturize after cleansing is a nice addition to my daily regimen. It adds a layer of moisture, and enables me to use less of my expensive moisturizer. As with the rest of Heritage Products, this is high-quality and iHerb's price is good.

Savory, with a nice snap

I'm very happy with this seed mix. As the name indicates, it is spicy and the seeds have a crisp, snappy texture. I especially appreciate that the pumpkin seeds are hulled; most of the other pumpkin seeds I have tried are not. This is an easy way to add sprouted seeds into your diet. Great in salads, spanish rice, or any other dish where you want to add some nutritious texture and flavor.

This is the best way I have found to add lecithin back to my diet

Posted on Apr 12, 2013

I have been supplementing my diet with lecithin since the late 1970's, when the most commonly available product was waxy granules that I choked down in shakes. Then came triple-strength lecithin in gelcaps before it was genetically engineered. That was great for many years until I found, about 4-5 years ago, that it was manifesting hormonal changes in my body, cluing me in to the fact that the product was now from GMO soy. I abstained from it until I came across this product at a food co-op. I am now ordering it at a better price from iHerb. I add mine to a blended protein shake in the morning. It emulsifies perfectly, creating a creamy texture and mild, pleasant taste.

another very good product from Jason

Over the years I have used Jason conditioners and shampoos quite often. Like the others I have used, this Apricot conditioning product leaves my hair shiny, soft and manageable. I also appreciate the mid-level pricing of their products.

high-quality, competitively priced

This is my go-to raw, organic cacao powder. It readily emulsifies in smoothies and has a rich (not bitter) chocolate taste. The price is competitive with other similar products and less expensive than some others. Across the board, I have been impressed with the level of quality of Sunfood products.

I ordered this recently to make it easier to whip up a daily meal replacement, and I think I might buy a few more. It is the simplest design, but the wire ball really whips things up in a hurry. The lid and snap cap are very snug, so there are no leaks. I can easily take it along when I travel and can make my breakfasts anywhere. Just about anything you use a whisk for in the kitchen can go right into one of these, e.g., eggs, batters, etc. Other reviewers have recommended putting the liquid in first and I try to remember to do that. One day I forgot, but it still worked.

Won't emulsify

Although I like the flavor and aroma of this cacao powder, no matter how much I shake it up in my breakfast drinks it stays in little clumps that are unpleasant. A significant amount of it inevitably stays behind in the bottom of the container no matter how quickly I down it.

Disappointed - bland and does not thicken

Posted on Apr 12, 2013

I purchased this as an alternative to the pricey 0.8 oz. packets of "Simply Organic" taco seasonings, which I really like. They are spicy and thicken nicely. Since "Simply Organic" is distributed by Frontier, I anticipated that this would be comparable. Despite using it generously, my husband said it was tasteless - he could not detect the seasonings. It also did not thicken. This is the first Frontier product I have been disappointed in, but it will not affect my many other Frontier purchases. They have a great product line and can save you a ton of money.

A hard-to-find product at an excellent price

Posted on Apr 12, 2013

If you like hibiscus-based teas, which tend to be expensive, you might enjoy trying these organic hibiscus flowers to make your own. Although I prowl the aisles of health food stores and cooperatives every week, I have never seen them available. With this giant bag in your pantry, you can throw handfuls into your teakettle. There are studies that have shown that drinking hibiscus beverages can lower blood pressure, which prompted me to make this purchase. Frontier's line of products is HUGE. They are organic and you can save yourself a ton of money buying their bulk-packaged foods.
