Good taste

Posted on Dec 13, 2013

For the life of me I can't taste any difference between Now brand and other more expensive brands I've tried. It subtly boosts my sense of energy when taken at breakfast time. The brain is the organ that most benefits from two or three teaspoonfuls of this product a day. North American producers of inflammation-causing soybean oil and corn oil, move over. Virgin coconut oil won't store itself in fat deposits in your body.

I bought this cream for my mother-in-law to alleviate her rheumatoid arthritis. Starting on the second day of using the product, she began to notice less pain and inflammation. This product won't cure the illness, but it will lessen the pain and add a measure of mobility to the joints.

While most other brands of almomd butter use roasted almonds, Artisana offers a semi-liquid made with raw almonds. The word "raw" translates "not modified or chemically broken down by intense heat." Simply stated, "roasted" means nutritionally barren. Thank-you, Artisana, for a delicious snack food (fifth meal) that contributes to our health. We'll be buying more.

My wife and I take chia every day right sfter the main meal. It adds fiber (along with Omega-3) to your diet to stave off constipation.

Astaxanthin

This is one of those products where you can't tell if it's doing its job or not. Scientists say this flavone forms an invisible film in the lens that blocks harmful blue wave light from penetrating the cornea. In other words, continuous use helps stymie the formation of cataracts.

Smells like the real thing, but orange rind isn't among my favorite odors.

It adds a rather convincing butter flavor to cooked foods without the unhealthy traits of real butter.

Better-than-average quality

It costs a bit more than the local supermarket brand that gets their product from Ethiopia by using unfair trade practices in order to keep the villagers dirt poor. The quality of these nuts is decidedly better -- a lot fresher-tasting.

Delicious

Has a sort of hickory nut flavor and slightly firm texture similar to steamed wheat berries. I simmered it for an hour in half water and half broth.

Slows absorption of glucose into the bloodstream

Appears to work fine, but I personally prefer mixing a teaspoon of guar gum in a glass of cold water with fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Guar gum will remain in gel form even after coming in contact with gastric juices. Both glucomannan and guar gum will lower the glycemic index of most any ordinary food.

Not for everybody -- taste is similar to chickpea soup

Place four tablespoons of the powder in a small bowl, add about two tablespoons of juice and stir for a good two minutes. For its wonderful plant-origen protein content, I often make this my last meal of the day (a mini-meal) taken at about nine or ten o'clock at night. Don't buy this product and expect it to taste like a sugary Nesquik or to be instant dissolving. Neither of the above, and decidedly not for children or youth.

I can only assume it's doing its job of mopping up free radicals in the body. Read the ingredients -- contains lecithin. If you're already taking a lecithin supplement, make sure to adjust downwards your daily lecithin intake.
