Carlson Labs, Vitamin K2

I have osteoporosis and take calcium, vit D3 and magnesium to ensure the calcium is absorbed into my bones. Vit K2 was recommended to me by several members of the National Osteoporosis Foundation forum. The vit K2 works by stopping the calcium being deposited in arteries, which could lead to strokes and heart attacks. I have no way of knowing whether the tablets are working, but at least I am doing everything possible to beat this crippling disease. The service I received from iHerb has been very good. My tablets arrived in less than 2 weeks using airmail to the UK and I didn't have to pay customs duty on them.

Vitamin K2 in the treatment of osteoporosis

Vitamin K2 menatetrenone (MK-4) is used as the standard osteoporosis treatment in Japan at a high dose of 45mg. I have read that it is still beneficial at lower doses. I combine this with several other 'bone' vit and mineral supplements. For further information about Osteoporosis I suggest you look that the National Osteoporosis Sociey (UK)members forum and the National Osteoporosis Foundation Inspire forum (USA) I live in the UK and have found that vit K2(MK-4) is very difficult to find in the UK. There is one supplier listed on Amazon, but the price is VERY expensive, so I order it from iHerb via the internet. The service from iHerb is very good. The only problem being the limit on duty free imports into the UK. I thinks its about £17, but this keeps altering, so you must check prior to placing an order, if you are planning on ordering under the VAT limit. I placed an order for £30 worth, a while ago, the package got held up at Customs for several weeks and I had to pay £5 duty AND £8 fee to the Post Office in the UK, before they would allow me to have the parcel. Someone on the National Osteo. Foundation forum who lives in the UK, said that they always place a larger order to get a discount, then instead of allowing the Post Office to deliver it, they tick the option on the iHerb order, to have it delivered via the named Carrier. (I cannot remember the Carriers name off the top of my head) They still have to pay the VAT duty, but this is collected via the Carrier, who sends you an invoice afterwards and the handling charge is much less than what the Post Office charge. I was also told that the delivery is very good if you use the Carrier that iHerb name. My first order with iHerb arrived within 8 days. If the Customs are being bloody minded,(and you use the Post Office) it can take up to a month for the parcel to arrive, if you are unlucky. I will order a larger amount next time, provided the discount is good, as well as using the Carrier. This hopefully will off set the VAT and handling charge to the carrier, that I will have to pay.
