Who needs dinner and dessert when we have this one?

Posted on Jul 10, 2013

Purchased at iHerb

First the taste of the dark chocolate appeared with a hint of vanilla. Next came the burning sensation from the chilli. And at last came a really desired taste of berries. It all really balanced so well; the nice bitterness of the chocolate, the spice from the chilli and finally the fresh taste of the berries. Finally as the overwhelming variety of different tastes faded, a really nice vague sweetness remained in my mouth. So many nice tastes in one bite, hence my subject line! The taste of sour was fortunately not included here. I would not enjoy the taste of pickled herring along with the other tastes ;-) Of course I wasn't serious about the headline though, as we need a healthy rich diet. I have only tasted this chocolate today, but I already love it!

Love at first sprout!

I adore this Zesty Sprouting Mix. Consisting of radish-, crimson clover- and fenugreek seeds, it is a delicous mix. The germination was really well on the (only) package I have opened up and sprouted. Sprouting your own seeds is really superfood. Highly ecommended. Five stars.

Absolutely fantastic taste!

I received the package yesterday and today I brewed tea on this. Licoice root, cinnamon, anise, orange peel, chamomile and cloves, it really sounds a bit much of Christmas to me. Yes, it had a slight taste of Christmas, but not too much. In fact I found this tea very refreshing. Anyway, regarding licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra), it seems to be a 'miracle' herb according to some sites. Mention a complaint and it works for it. I don't believe in such extreme claims. But it has a well-documented reputation for healing ulcers Also licorice root is fifty times sweeter than sugar, without the ill-effects that white sugar provides. So if feeling the urge for something naturally sweet, this is it. Definitely five stars from me.

Feels nice on the facial skin.

I like this one. I expected it to smell coconut, but it didn't. And am glad it didn't. I am not very fond about scents. The oil felt nice to the skin and didn't become very oily either. My skin felt soft. I forgot to look into the mirror to see whether I looked ten years younger though ;-) Five stars.

Yes, magic still exists!

This is great product for a great price. The taste is a sweet and vaguely bitter one, and my stomach tolerates it. (I am sensitive to lots of stuff.) I had an overall good feeling afterwards, and even though I haven't tried the product long enough to really experience the long-term benefits from using it, I really have a good feeelng about it, so I am willing to give it five stars.

Tastes very good compared to other spirulina brands I have tried.

If I am to trust what it says on the label regarding the purety of the production as well as the process of this brand's spirulina, I am more than satisfied with it. It tastes really well. It tastes slightly better than a product I bought from Germany; not a known brand, and for all I know the German trader could have got the spirulina from China - and it could have had toxins in it without my knowledge. Also I have tried one bottle of Now Foods' Spirulina, as well as a brand I bought fifteen years ago (I don't remember which brand), and by far the other spirulina I have tried didn't taste as fresh and good as this product. If I am to explain the difference? The Hawaiian tastes less 'off' and it is also a bit sweeter in the taste. The colour looks green and nice. But then we all know that colour may deceive, as sometimes artificial colour is added. (Not saying that colour is added to spirulina. It is never needed. I'm just speaking generally.) But if you are familiar with a certain food substance from personal experience, then you have a point of reference; from there you should always trust your nose (and tongue). Your nose can discern the difference between products, and can reveal the quality of a product. Yes, trust the nose and don't think: "Oh, this supplement smells a bit rotten, but the expire date says December 2025, so it means that I can eat it." (Wrong reasoning.) By far trust your nose before an expiry date. Also this particular spirulina blends a lot easier in water than my past experiences with spirulina. With the three other spirulina brands I have tested, once I had it in water it clogged. Then I had to rub the spirulina against the glass with the teaspoon till most of the clogs were gone. Quite some effort. But this Hawaiian Spirulina mixes so much easier with water. It makes me wonder whether either it has much less fatty acids in it, or whether the cells are broken down so well that this spirulina clogs less? My overall impression of this Hawaiian Spirulina is that it is superior. But then I have only tested this one batch. Another batch may be different. I hope not. I hope that Nutrex will quality check all their Hawaiian Spirulina so that all batches will be great. So for now I am really happy about this Hawaiian spirulina. And just some general info about spirulina: It is well known to be a superfood with lots of good stuff in it. Essential amino acids, GLA, vitamin A, B, D, E, and minerals and more. And spirulina also has a somewhat 'cleansing' effect, but not as much as chlorella. Though I must say that I do prefer spirulina to chlorella as it is easier to digest. Without doubt I give five bright stars to Pure Hawaiian Spirulina.

Great pro-biotic product!

What is it to say more than the subject line tells? Not much really, but just beacuse I am chatty, I will anyway write some lines: I can tell that I have tried other products, and not all work the same. Some are too tough on the intestines, even after the first few days where typically gas develops. And supposedly that means that the product works. But when the bloated feeling goes on for weeks, then I don't find it to be valid for the product being of quality. But this product: I felt it agreed with me instantly. I started with one pill a day, and increased to two pills. And I do feel that it helps my digestive system. A healthy colon means a healthy immune system.

Great for us who have problems getting enough calories in our diet.

I have many allergies and food intolerances, and have a lessened appetite due to all the food substances I need to cut from my diet. So I search for products that may increase my appetite, as well has having lots of calories in them. I tolerate very little fruits, so I almost consider it a small miracle that I tolerate the Larabar energy bars well. I have tried most Larabar energy bars (in a matter of as short time span as two months), and by far, I must say that this one ranks high to me; it is one of my favourites. As you can see from what is most popular in regards to sales number, you can tell that this is not only my personal favourite; this Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip has quite a universal appeal. I have never really had a sweet tooth, but of some reason I like most of the Larabar energy bars. Tastewise I recommend this specific product.

Rhodiola, great for generally boosting energy - and it's also an aphrodisiac.

Posted on Jul 10, 2013

Purchased at iHerb

Many people experience an instant increase on their energy level while using this. And those I know that have used this, find it gentle on the stomach. Also Rhodiola (the herb, and not only this brand) is among some natural products that reportedly increase the libido. I have only sporadically been using Rhoidola, so I haven't much experience about this particular brand myself. But I have tried it a for a few days, and unfortunately I didn't notice anything really. But since people I know report a lot better effect, I will only remove one star, giving it four stars. Now Foods generally obtain good quality raw material for their products.

Echinacea, nice for colds - supposedly.

Posted on Jul 10, 2013

Purchased at iHerb

I haven't bought this to myself, but to some other person. The supplement seems fine, is the feedback I get. Personally I have only have one cold in ten years, and it is not due to taking Echinacea: Longer back in time (the 1990s, when Echinecae was the latest rage, by impulse I bought it and decided to test it. Not because I was troubled by colds. I usually got a cold every third year or even less. The strangest thing happened: After I had been using Echinacea for a week, I developled cold. A coincidence I thought. I tried Echinacea again a couple of years later. The same thing occurred! I developed a cold after a week or two. And the same happened a third time! So yes, to me Echinacea works against cold... but only if I DON'T take it ;-) The person I gave it to didn't report any bad side-effects, but didn't feel much better either. Since Echinacea evidently has some documentation that it generally really works, I will give this product four stars. If not because at least it wasn't pricey.
