This is the best way I have found to add lecithin back to my diet

Posted on Jan 14, 2013

Purchased at iHerb

I have been supplementing my diet with lecithin since the late 1970's, when the most commonly available product was waxy granules that I choked down in shakes. Then came triple-strength lecithin in gelcaps before it was genetically engineered. That was great for many years until I found, about 4-5 years ago, that it was manifesting hormonal changes in my body, cluing me in to the fact that the product was now from GMO soy. I abstained from it until I came across this product at a food co-op. I am now ordering it at a better price from iHerb. I add mine to a blended protein shake in the morning. It emulsifies perfectly, creating a creamy texture and mild, pleasant taste.

Savory, with a nice snap

I'm very happy with this seed mix. As the name indicates, it is spicy and the seeds have a crisp, snappy texture. I especially appreciate that the pumpkin seeds are hulled; most of the other pumpkin seeds I have tried are not. This is an easy way to add sprouted seeds into your diet. Great in salads, spanish rice, or any other dish where you want to add some nutritious texture and flavor.

Won't emulsify

Although I like the flavor and aroma of this cacao powder, no matter how much I shake it up in my breakfast drinks it stays in little clumps that are unpleasant. A significant amount of it inevitably stays behind in the bottom of the container no matter how quickly I down it.

Excellent value for organic, high-quality matcha

There is a wide range of prices for organic powdered green tea, much of it outrageous. This is a generously-sized, double-lidded tin of organic, shade-grown tea that has a lovely, pure taste. I just introduced this into my diet and this will be my go-to tea.

Gentle, leaves hair shiny, has the best ingredients

Posted on Aug 09, 2012

Purchased at iHerb

I decided to try this shampoo after tinting my hair for the very first time earlier this year. Like the conditioner, it is quite concentrated and a small amount goes a long way. It contains oils of palm, coconut, sunflower seed, cranberry seed, pumpkin seed and orange flower so is very nourishing, but leaves hair perfectly cleaned. I first purchased it at Whole Foods for $19 so I was pleased to find it at a much more affordable price at iHerb, enabling me to use it regularly.

Excellent product from a Bay Area Green Business

Posted on Aug 09, 2012

I decided to try this conditioner after tinting my hair for the very first time earlier this year. It is rich and concentrated yet does not weigh my hair down in any way, leaving it soft and manageable. It is free of all of the usual chemicals (e.g., parabens, petrochemicals, GMOs, etc.). I first purchased it at Whole Foods for an outrageous $19-20, so I was pleased to find it at a much more affordable price at iHerb, enabling me to use it regularly.

Time-tested good product, good value

I have used this brand of lavender oil for many years, adding it to castile soap, lotions, etc., and it is a consistently produced product - the fragrance is always bright and pure. This 4-oz. bottle will last a long time and is a better value than the 1-oz., provided you use it a lot. This is a generous amount of an essential oil.

Can use in hot, humid weather without stickiness

Posted on Aug 09, 2012

Purchased at iHerb

The label on this says, "penetrates quickly without greasiness...soothes, smoothes and adds elasticity..." I think it is the first lotion I could use in muggy weather and it really does not get sticky at all. I had to apply it under near-sauna conditions this week and within a few minutes it was absorbed. The clean ingredients list is short (17) and this product is produced without animal by-products or animal testing. The citrusy fragrance is minimal - smells clean.

The best tamari soy sauce you can buy, great value size

I go through a lot of tamari, and I was very pleased to find this 20 oz. size as an alternative to the common 10 oz. Eden Foods is a stellar food company. They are the U.S.'s first third-party organic food manufacturing facility. Their tamari soy sauce is made by those skilled in ancient methods of koji Aspergillus oryzae fermentation. Koji spore inoculated whole soybeans are aged in cedar casks through two full cycles of the seasons. It is the real deal. Unlike most soy sauces, tamari does not have wheat in it and is gluten-free. And as opposed to refined table salt, this contains sea salt.

Disappointed - bland and does not thicken

Posted on Aug 07, 2012

Purchased at iHerb

I purchased this as an alternative to the pricey 0.8 oz. packets of "Simply Organic" taco seasonings, which I really like. They are spicy and thicken nicely. Since "Simply Organic" is distributed by Frontier, I anticipated that this would be comparable. Despite using it generously, my husband said it was tasteless - he could not detect the seasonings. It also did not thicken. This is the first Frontier product I have been disappointed in, but it will not affect my many other Frontier purchases. They have a great product line and can save you a ton of money.

The affordable way to buy cream of tartar

Posted on Aug 07, 2012

Cream of tartar is a pantry staple at my house. In addition to its baking uses, it is one of the most effective things you can use to remove burned food from pots and pans. Add a generous heap to some water in the affected pan, simmer for a half hour, and scrub. That is not feasible with the over-priced, teensy bottles and boxes you find at the store. But when you have a pound... ! My very experienced acupuncturist recommends drinking 1/2 tsp. each of cream of tartar and baking soda in a cup of water to counter lactic acid in the body.
