Hope for Lymphedema

I first read about this herb in one of Matthew Wood's herbal books -- and am I ever glad that I did! A friend of mine with end-stage cancer developed lymphedema, which was disfiguring, painful, and getting progressively worse almost every day. Since I had read that cleavers was good for cleaning out the lymphatic system, my friend started taking around 30 drops of Eclectic Institute's cleavers tincture 3-4 times a day. In less than 2 weeks, he lost 24 pounds of what had to be water weight, because his swelling decreased so dramatically. I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone, but if you know someone suffering from lymphedema, I would highly, highly recommend giving cleavers a try. It's a fairly "safe" herb, very affordable to try, and for us, it really worked.

My husband had an infection boiling in his gums, which turned into an abscessed tooth. We tried alder and beebalm, which seemed to squelch it a little, but not completely kick it. Then I read The Book of Herbal Wisdom by Matthew Wood (excellent book!) and decided to give dandelion tincture and white oak bark powder (encapsulated) a try. It didn't happen overnight, but eventually the abscess went away. My husband took 2 or three small doses of dandelion a day for almost a month, and while I credit the white oak bark in playing an important role as well, I really think that the dandelion was essential. All of the Eclectic Institute tinctures that I have tried seem to be potent; it's a brand that I have come to trust.

Soothing soak, nicer legs

My children like to play with bubbles in the tub, and I was looking for a product that didn't have so many chemicals in it. I tried this one, and was pleasantly surprised. It has a mild fragrance that reminds me a little bit of baby oil, but it was still pleasant. I had to use the jets on the tubs to really get it to make bubbles, so it wasn't exactly the "bubble bath" concoction I had originally set out to find... but that's okay, because I'm more than happy to use it myself. After soaking in the tub with this, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the skin on my legs looked exceptionally smooth and nice. I checked out the bottle and saw arnica, horse chestnut, and a few other promising ingredients, so maybe that's why. Two cons: (1) It's a bit pricey to be using it all the time, and (2) they didn't specifiy that the corn oil was made from Non-GMO corn. Other than those two things, I would definitely be buying this regularly.
