Another winner from Acure Organics

Acure Organics has become my favourite brand of skincare, I have loved every product that I have tried. Personally, I have found that attempting to find a great, long term cleanser without any faults is near impossible. I adore the Frownies, pH-Balancing Complexion Wash but needed something a little gentler for when my skin is a little drier. Firstly, like other Acure products, the packaging is simple, fresh and modern. The packaging states that the cleanser is vegan, sulfate, cruelty, paraben, PEG, petroleum, phthalate and silicone free. So, in other words it's full of nothing but natural and healthy ingredients that are beneficial to the skin. The cleanser has a pleasant citrus scent and only a small amount is required to achieve a nice lather and remove dirt & make-up. Even though this product it targeted at normal to oily skin, my combination skin loves it and I find that it does not aggravate the dry areas of my skin. Using this in addition to the Acure scrub has greatly improved the condition of my skin.

My skin requires a higher concentration

Recently, I have been entertaining the idea of trying a prescription retinoid for skin renewal. I use an assortment of glycolic and lactic acid OTC products but have found that I need something stronger to really penetrate and clear out my congested pores. While browsing iherb one day, I came across the Life-Flo Retinol A and was intrigued as I was unaware that you could purchase such an item OTC. I've used other products from Life-Flo and have always found that they are of excellent quality. First of all the cream is strongly scented, it has a vivid vitamin C scent which isn't horrible but could be too much for scent sensitive people. The cream itself spreads easily on the skin and only a small amount is required to cover a large area. It isn't a terribly heavy cream and absorbs well into the skin with no sticky residue but I could find it being too much for oily skinned people. At first, I only started applying this to my nose as this area on my face is fairly hardy and the other reviews note a peiod of peeling. I did not have any adverse effects on my nose, no redness or peeling and my skin felt somewhat smooth. I started using the cream on the rest of my face but found that it didn't really live up to my expectations. Firstly, I didn't experience any peeling, stinging or redness which is obviously a good thing but to me these show that the product is working, especially with a chemical exfoliant. I continued to use but found that my skin wasn't clearer, smoother or softer, instead, I think that it may have caused some congestion. I gave the cream to my mum to try and she was not overjoyed with it either. Sadly, I will not be repurchasing.

Another winner from Acure Organics

I have been using the Acure Organics hair and skin care products for quite some time now. The Brightening scrub is absolutely amazing. I purchased the Lemongrass shampoo as it is designed to clarify and I unfortunately have oily roots mixed with dry ends due to colouring. The smell is very fresh and natural and unlike many organic or natural shampoo's, you don't need an excess amount of product to produce a lather. It does leave hair very clean and I do find that I need to follow-up with a conditioner due to my damaged ends. The matching Lemongrass conditioner, while lovely is not nourishing enough for my hair so I utilise the Moroccan Argan conditioner on my mid lengths to ends which is designed for dry hair .

Refreshing mist

I adore the Heritage Rosewater spray. Firstly, it contains hydroessential rose oil which is a true essential oil hydro-distilled from the petals of Rosa Damascena. It's also certified by periodic laboratory tests to be free of pesticide residues. Unlike many essential sprays or mists, it doesn't contain any nasty drying alcohol or harmful preservatives so all up, it's a top quality product. The smell isn't overpowering, it's subtly and pleasantly scented. I keep a bottle in the fridge and use it as a refreshing spray during summer, it's great to set foundation and provides a more natural, luminous look and works wonders when mixed with the Aztec Secrets Clay and used as a face mask. It's soothing on mosquito bites, cuts and scrapes and I find that it works great on red and inflamed blemishes. I find that it doesn't have any particularly intense moisture benefits if you have parched skin, if this is what you are looking for, Heritage do offer a rosewater spray with glycerin which is more moisturising.

Amazing cleanser

I purchased this cleanser on a whim without reading any reviews which is not something I usually do. I found myself drawn to the quality ingredients of herbs and essential oils plus the fact that it's soap free. I was especially drawn to the apple and lemon juice + raw cane sugar and lactic acid. This cleanser is absolutely amazing. My skin has become clearer and much more radiant, has taken on more of an even tone and is a lot less prone to blemishes. Great for temperamental hormonal skin. You only require a tiny amount and the cleanser foams well, it leaves you with a clean feeling but in no way stripped of moisture. The price is amazingly low too, I've used cleansers 5x the price of Frownies which have not even come close to the quality and effectiveness of this product.

The best lip balm, ever.

This is the most moisturising lip balm I've ever used. It glides on smoothly, is never waxy and leaves the lips ridiculously soft with a slight sheen. It states that it's a night treatment balm but I use it throughout the day. I love the fact that the vanilla is not that sickly, sweet scent that you find in many products but it's more of a boozy vanilla thanks to the vanilla planifolia. Definitely 5 stars.

This cream changed my life for the better

I hit menopause around 25 years early due to surgery and found that as I am younger, I needed a higher dose of Estrogen in addition to the bio-identical pellet that I had already had inserted. I was still experiencing mood changes, lethargy and had extremely dry skin + acne. Firstly, I tried the Life Flo estriol cream alone which helped to a certain level but the majority of my improvements were seen only after switching to the combined estriol and estradiol. I chose the cream as I had tried a bio-identical pill which I found had to be taken in ridiculously high doses as it seemed that the majority of the dose was destroyed by my gut and liver. I use 2 pumps a day - 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. It did take me a while to find the correct dosing and my best advice to women is to listen to what your body is telling you and adjust dosages accordingly. Since taking the cream my moods have stabilised, my skin in glowing and I have more energy to enjoy my life. I will never be without this product, thank you Life Flo.

Amazing oil

I've never been a fan of standard facial moisturiser as I've never been lucky enough to find one that doesn't make my face feel oily and or congested. The only other oil I've tried is pure, organic rosehip but found that it wasn't particularly moisturising or beneficial even after continued use. When I first received the Acure Organics Argan Oil I was happy to see that the packaging was simple, modern and fresh, inline with the rest of the range. At first I used too much and the oil did not sink into my skin but instead sat on top and felt greasy. I found that the optimum amount for my face is 1 - 2 drops maximum and instead of rubbing it in like a standard moisturiser, I pat and press it onto the skin and allow the warmth of my hands to help the oil sink in. My face doesn't feel oily or clogged but instead looks smooth and plump and I have not broken out after multiple uses. This little jar will last me a while but I will definitely repurchase again. Skin renewal

The Andalou Naturals Pumpkin, Honey & Glycolic mask comes in a nice little compact tub, the colours are inline with the rest of the range - green base with a silver lid. What I also love about the Andalou packaging is the little quotes that are included on the underside of the box lids. My mask came with an Einstein quote and my toner with a Henri Matisse quote. I just think that it's a lovely little touch and shows attention to detail. The mask has a gel like consistency and is the colour of pumpkin. It has a pleasant scent with a combination of pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon. The tub contains 50ml of mask but only a small amount is required to cover the whole face. Shortly after application you can feel a tingling, warming sensation which shows that the ingredients are working to renew and stimulate the skin. The mask dries but still retains a slightly sticky feel but is easy to wash off. The skin is left smooth, even toned and not devoid of moisture like some clay based masks. I also found that my skin felt incredibly clean and soft. Will definitely repurchase.

Great mixed with apple cider vinegar or rosewater

At first I wasn't overly impressed with this clay mask but that was because I was initially only mixing it with water. I found that with water it was terribly difficult to mix, becoming lumpy and there was no "pulsating" as noted in the instructions. It slightly dried out some existing blemishes but nothing miraculous. After obtaining some great results with taking apple cider vinegar and using a ACV toner, I revisited the mask and mixed the clay with ACV. The first difference was how well it mixed, absolutely no lumps and it formed a smooth, almost mousse like texture. Super easy to apply and while drying I felt the warmth and pulsating effect that I'd been chasing. After washing the skin is left temporarily red but only ever so slightly. The skin was smooth, even toned and pores appeared smaller but my skin was left quite dry so depending on your skin type, you may have to follow with a quality moisturiser. I find that it helps existing blemishes clear quicker and prevents new blemishes from appearing. When my skin is a little drier than usual but still needs a deep clean, I mix the clay with organic rosewater and or a small amount of oil like Rosehip or Argan and find that this works wonderfully. Recently, after spending far too long in the sun, my face was sunburnt and began to peel. My pores were congested especially on my nose but I didn't want to use any harsh or irritating products. I applied the clay mixed with a drop of organic rosehip oil and a couple of sprays of rosewater and applied to the applicable areas. After removing, my skin felt thoroughly cleansed however, it wasn't left dry or parched.

5 HTP - Nausea

I really wanted to give 5 HTP a try however, I couldn't get past the terrible nausea and dizziness it caused. I tried changing the dosage and experimented with taking a capsule at night and or taking with or without food but the nausea never passed. I did some investigation and apparently many people report queasiness when they first start taking 5 HTP. I can usually get past an adjustment period with most medications but the side effects were interfering with my day-to-day life.

Delicious

I had never tried hempseed previously but I was interested in the health benefits - 33% protein with Omega-3 and GLA-the healthy EFAs doctors recommend plus the fact that they are a 100% raw product. In addition to the health benefits, they taste absolutely delicious. They have an almost nutty taste and I noticed in the product description that the taste is likened too pine nuts. I sprinkle these on salads, yoghurt, soup and vegetables. Recently however, iherb have stopped shipping this item to Australia and upon investigation I found out that in this country it is not legal to ingest hemp products. Ridiculous! The good thing is that it looks like this law will be amended shortly. I sure hope so as I'm currently rationing my remaining stash.
