I'm using a variety of vegan-friendly products to support my goal to become a stronger climber. I also buy lots of cancer-fighting supplements from iHerb for my dog Biscuit, to help keep mast cell tumours from growing.

The best tasting vegan protein powder

Posted on Sep 01, 2012

A friend asked me to buy this for her because she really digs the rawness! She tells me it has a nice creamy texture even with water, it has the most pleasant taste out of all the vegan protein powders she has tried, it's slightly sweetened so not necessary to add fruit, and she thinks it's very good value for money too. It does sound great, but I prefer my Now Foods pea protein, because it's flipping cheap, and packed with protein!

Great size means less plastic waste

Purchased this for a friend, because she couldn't find an alcohol-free toner in Australia. She tells me that the larger size is great, because it means less plastic waste. She's also happy that this toner doesn't have a stupid wasteful spray applicator.

Much cheaper than vegan-friendly hair dye available in Australia

Another purchase for my vegan friend, who tells me that the price is very cheap compared to similar products available in Australia. With Organic and natural ingredients, no animal testing, and lasting colour for up to 5 weeks, $13.79 is great value for money.

The perfect natural sweetener

I don't keep any refined sugar in the house, and I minimise added sugar in the foods I buy, so this is the perfect sweetener for me. NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia tastes great, it's super sweet (7 drops is plenty for most uses), alcohol free (for teetotallers like me), and has 0 calories. I've been using it to add some sweetness to my oatmeal, and bedtime protein shake. I found the recommended 7 drops way too sweet in my soy latte though, but most soy milks contain a little bit of sugar already, so a couple of drops is probably plenty.

Perfect mix of herbal ingredients to beat the fungus! Much cheaper and more convenient than buying all the herbal remedies separately. I couldn't find anything like this available in Australia.

Affordable daily dose of antioxidants

I did a bit of research before buying this, and 80% Catechins with 200 mg EGCg is a jolly good dose of green tea extract. Much easier than drinking 3 cups of green tea! Low caffeine is good too, because I also give it to my dog to help fight the nasty cancer cells.

Vegan digestive enzyme

Digestive enzymes for vegans are sure hard to find, and I'm very happy with this one from Now Foods. It contains enzymes to help break down protein, fat, and fiber. $19 for 240 Vcaps is a great price, which is important for me, because I take at least 4 per day, every time I have a protein/carb shake or meal. Taking this plant enzyme gives me piece of mind, because I know I'm getting the most nutrients out the food I eat, so my body has all it needs to build big muscles!

Essential supplement for vegan bodybuilders

I didn't realise how important this supplement was until I started reading heaps of articles about it. Apart from assisting with muscle repair and recovery, it can help maintain muscle mass, boost brain power, ease depression, stimulate the immune system, enhance intestinal integrity, promote stable blood sugar levels, and help fight candida yeast infection! Apparently when L-Glutamine is combined with creatine, it can counteract the effects of overtraining, so I make sure take 2 tablets with 4g creatine in my post-workout protein/carb shake. The tablets are like horse pills, so you'll need a fair amount of liquid to wash them down. Great price for 180 tablets, which is important when you take 4 a day.

Vegan Probiotic

A good vegan probiotic is hard to find. Now foods didn't have many probiotics suitable for vegans, but I thought this was the best choice. $10.79 for 60 tabs is a good price, and you get 8 different species of beneficial bacteria plus FOS, which makes this product excellent value for money.

Great value, and convenient way to get your super greens

Green super foods in powder form have a rather unpalatable taste in my opinion, so I much prefer taking Chlorella in tablet form -- and it's a lot more convenient too.

Luteolin for cancer

1 person found the following review helpful

It's often difficult to know if a specific supplement is working, but I'm very happy with the price. I give it to my dog, because she has mast cell tumors, and apparently the luteolin in artichoke extract can be beneficial.

Less pain

Fibromyalgia pain hasn't been so bad recently, so this could be helping...although I'm certain that exercises given to me by a physiotherapist are helping, so perhaps it's a combination of both.
