I am a beliver in probiotics. However poor shelf life can be an issue. Probiotics are not stable for very long at room temperature. If the temperature goes higher there are no guarantees what may be left living. This is no disrespect to iHerb, but I now buy my probiotics from a health food store that keeps them refrigerated or I buy from a vendor that will ship them in ice packs. This was not shipped in Ice. Infact the manufacturer says it is not required. Regardless of that, I keep mine refrigerated. I highly recommend to keep your probiotics refrigerated. Even if it claims to be ok not to do so. Also, look for glass bottle packaging or individually packaged capsules (blister packaging) as this will help with the shelf life. Look for a broad range of strains in any probitic you buy. Seven or more. The Lacto bacteria are for the small intenstine and the Bifo are for the large intestine. You can also take a prebiotic(food for the probiotic) that will help the probiotics thrive. Prebiotics include inulin, FOS, and foods like onions, garlic, bananas and leeks. Also consider NAG. Take your probiotic on an empty stomach with water mixed with bit of lemon or lime. This will help it move through the stomach faster (stomach acid will kill them) and into the intestine where it needs to be. I did use an entire bottle of this product and I found very little benefit from it. Probaly for the reasons I outlined above. I have learned about the power of mushrooms from my herbal teachers and from my own self study. They are an excellent all natural immune enhancing food among other things. Unfortunately, some mushrooms are not easy to stomach so getting them in a capsule form makes a lot of sence. One example is reishi. This is an excellent super food and from a practical point of view is not easily eaten whole. Hence people take a tincture or capsule form. Paul Stamets, the founder of Fungi Perfecti, is one of the most authoratative experts on Mushrooms. He did work for New Chapter at one point and helped them develope their mushroom products. You can see You Tube videos of Stamets giving talks aobut the amazing things mushrooms can do. Don't just take my word for it. Google Stamets and read and watch some videos. My teachers, who have many years of experince, trust Stamets to put out a high quality and relevant mushroom product, and so do I. I was taking New Chapters mushroom product but recently learned they were bought out by Proctor and Gamble who is a super large multi-national conglormorate. It will just be a matter of time before they short change their products for more share holder value. This is a common theme unfortunately. A few months ago I switched to this, Host Defense My Community by Fungi Perfecti. It is a great maintenace product to build your immunity and prevent disease and sickness. I have been taking 3 in the AM and 3 in the PM for shoulder tendonitis and knee pain. It works. Just make sure you take it on an empty stomach. Otherwise it will not work. These have been used in Germany for decades with success. No side effects like NSAID's. I have used a generic form of Wobenzym enzymes from another supplier and they did not work as well as this brand. A bit expensive but it is worth it to save your liver and gut from the abuse of NSAID's. Your MD will never tell you about this. If you ask, he/she will likely say they never heard of it and sadly they are probaly telling the truth. I have used over 2 bottles of this and it has helped tremedouly with my stomach issues. This is cold processed below 110 degrees F so that it keeps all of the enzymes and long chain polysaccharides in tact. I am not aware of another aloe vera juice product that is similar. As it states, it has removed the Aloin which gives it it's laxative effect so you don't have to worry about taking too much. However, I will say I took very little per day and saw results. I took about 2-3 oz. once a day. It is potent. This product contains a number of herbs that are anti-microbial, rejuvinating and demucelent(soothing to irritated tissues). It also has the famous Essiac herb blend of Sheep Sorell, Burdock Root, Slippery Elm, and Rhubarb root. This has been used for decades by herbalist for many ailments. If you google on it you will not have to look hard to find ton's of information on it so I won't take up space here. It also containls colloidal silver which is a powerfull anti-bacterial. It has been shown to not disturb your natural enzymes or flora. If you don't want/need the added benefits of the herbs you can buy this in a plain aloe vera version and save a few additional dollars. This is more expensive than other aloe vera juice products but if you look closely there is nothing similar. i.e. not a fair apples to oranges comparison. Vit K2 is great for directing calcium into your bones and not to your soft tissues. If you have a soft tissue injury, calcium can deposit at the injury site causing healing issues. Vit K2 will prevent that. It also keeps calcium from building up in your arteries. You don't want that! This is how athletes like distance runners have heart attacks. They take in too much calcium and not enough magnesium and K2. I was diagnosed with calcific deposites in my rototor cuff tendon. It has been debilitating. I took this for a few months and my shoulder injury is finally improving. I found the most benefit when I trippled the dose to 300mg a day. For maintenance 100-200mg should be good. This is the MK7 version of K2 vs. the MK4. The MK7 has a shorter half life so you need to take more of it to get the same effect. I found taking 3 pills a day of this MK7 product is working well for my shoulder issue. For maintenance I will dial it back to 1 a day. Although this is a fat soluable vitamin there is not research suggesting any toxicity issues. People should feel safe taking this 2 or 3 of these a day. It is also good for muscles including the heart. Give it a few weeks before you judge it. Do not take it too late in the day or it may impact your sleep. This is one product your doctor will never tell you about. It is very good for mild insomnia, nervousness or anxiety. L-Theanine is an amino acid and should be taken on an empty stomach. It is a GABA precursor. GABA is a calming neurotransmitter. You can try to take GABA directly but it does not work on most people because it does not cross the blood brain barrier very well. L- theanine does. This is a trial size and worth getting to see if it works for you. The recommended dose by most sources is 100-200mg. This is 150mg and right in the middle. You may find you need a little more or less. You may find you need a 100mg size capsule to accommodate such dosing. It is a very good natural alternative to sleep and anxiety medications. There are already over 100 good reviews so I won't repeat the frequently stated benefits. This is a great thing to try before trying an over the counter sleep drug or a prescription drug. I will say that this is an amino acid and to be most effective you should take on an empty stomach. I have seen some say they take it at dinner time and this will not be as effective. This may have been the problem with the few reviewers who said it did not work at all. As for the one or two that had a stomach issue while taking it, they could try taking it with more water. Ho Shou Wu is also known as Fo Ti. It has been used to provide adrenal support and can help with sleep if you have high or low night time cortisol. This may be casued by an illness or just plain old stress. It has been said that it can return gray hair to it's original color. I have not experienced this but I don't doubt the potential with long term use in some people. I have felt it helpfull when under stress. I have refered it to others and I have recieved good feed back as a stress combatant. I like the Herb Pharm products as they are made with Organic herbs and menstrum. I also like Ashwaghanda and siberian ginseng as good adrenal support herbs. Don't forget to take vit. C and a good B complex with extra B5 for the ultimate in natural adrenal support. Ubiquinol is the reduced form of Co-Q10. Ths is the form in which the body uses it. In other words, Co-Q10 needs to be converted to Ubiquinol in the body for it to be used. It is a more efficient way of taking it as not all of it maybe converted. Some people convert very little. This is very important for your mitochondria which is where you get your cellular energy. Anyone over the age of 40 should supplement this and especially anyone on a statin drug for high cholesterol. Statin drugs reduce your bodies natural output of ubiquinol and you need to make up for this. Otherwise you will not be as energetic or mentally sharp as you could be. I like the Carlson brand as they are very carefull about heavy metal contamination and freshness. Don't buy a huge amount at anytime as they are susceptable to going rancid. You can also keep them in the fridge to help extend self life. iherb is very good about always having fresh product so keep that in mind when buying oils. Most people don't need to supplement with the amino acid taurine as it is plentiful in the body. But it is good for detoxing the liver and it can have a calming effect at night to help with sleep. It is a precursor to making bile. It is also recomeded for those with weak hearts. I found this to be a good Taurine product and I like the 1 gram capules as I take one or two grams at night.
