Erythritol is a naturally-occurring sugar alcohol derived from a corn source alcohol derived from a corn source and is naturally found in small amounts in various plants, fruits and fungi, including mushrooms. It contains virtually no calories (95% less calories than table sugar), has a low glycemic impact, and doesn't contribute to tooth decay. Basically all the bad things about sugar are absent in Erythritol, yet it tastes just like sugar and is about 70% as sweet.
NOW Real Food Erythritol has a clean, sweet taste and is the perfect natural substitute for sugar in many applications. There's really no need to use refined table sugar ever again.
Because you are what you eat, NOW Real Food has been committed to providing delicious, healthy, natural and organic foods since 1968. We're independent, family owned, and proud of it. Keep it natural. Keep it real.

Unlike xylitol (which I also use), this product does not upset my stomach at all. It's very sweet and cane suger-like. I mix it with xylitol and stevia, and the combo is great! My sweetened tea is back! What's better is that Now Foods uses only Non-GMO corn for this product! A win-win!
This is a GREAT sweetener. It measures like sugar, has almost no calories, has the mouth feel of sugar, doesn’t cause cavities, tastes very similar to sugar, has no aftertaste, and has no bitter or off tastes. When eaten in crystal form, it has a cooling mint-like effect, similar to Xylitol. However, there is no cooling effect when it is dissolved. Unlike sugar, it forms crystals very rapidly. Sugar takes several days to grow large crystals. With Erythritol, you can grow large crystals in an hour or two. I’ve made great rock crystal candy with it in less than 1 hour. I’ve used it to bake cupcakes, make root beer, really smooth ice cream, chocolate milkshakes, and more. My family and I love it. Erythritol is especially good in ice cream where it helps make the ice cream smoother by preventing ice crystals from forming. Erythritol tastes more like sugar when mixed with a little fructose or small amounts of high intensity sweeteners like Lo Han Kuo, Stevia, etc. I find the combination of Erythritol, Stevia, and Lo Han Kuo makes one of the best tasting and most useful all natural lo calorie sweetener mixes. I typically use a mix of 3/4 tsp Erythritol, 1/4 tsp SlimSweet (Lo Han Kuo), and 1/32 tsp SoooLite Pure (Stevia) to replace 1 tsp of sugar in many recipes and it turns out great. Sometimes I mix in a little bit of Fructose which really gives it a rich taste.
Do I miss sugar?

Great for my Keto diet! Tried Stevia but hated the aftertaste. This is perfect. I use it for smoothies, cooking and baking; sometimes with a bit of stevia. Going to get the bigger packet soon.
Excellent for lowcarb diets, and in general.

The aftertaste of this nothing compared to stevia's. So it's pretty good, specially if you're watching your carb intake. I wouldn't take too much though, it might cause a stomachage, and I don't think it was made to be taken in large quantities.

Good taste but it kind of gives a burning sensation in the tongue

I don't know if all erythritol is tasteless this being the first one I tried, but this one was. I dunked my finger in the bag and licked it, didn't taste sweet. But a spoonful in tea, it produced an almost undetectable sweetness. Over-hyped. Now I know why it isn't used more in commercially sold products. If I had to name a plus, it would be that it is stomach-friendly for even someone like me who gets symptoms from really small amounts of traditional artificial sweeteners. Also does not harm teeth or contain any calories like natural sweeteners.
