The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.
The Shipping Weight includes the product, protective packaging material and the actual shipping box. In addition, the Shipping Weight may be adjusted for the Dimensional Weight (e.g. length, width & height) of a package. This versatile flour is finely ground from dried coconut meat, with a lower glycemic index than most traditional flours. Its rich texture and natural sweetness make it great for baking. Our coconut flour is certified gluten-free.
Coconut flour can be substituted for up to 1/3rd of wheat flour in standard recipes. Due to its high fiber content it absorbs lots of liquid, so increase the liquid in the recipe by an equal amount. Because it is gluten-free, it is necessary to add egg, chia gel, or even substitute a small amount of tapioca flour to assure that it binds properly.
Once a central part of the traditional Pacific Islander diet, luscious coconut is fast becoming a staple in modern healthy diets as well. Coconut contains lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid also found in human breast milk. Lauric acid makes up about 50% of coconut oil.
Our coconut products come from Southeast Asia, where the coconut oil is processed immediately upon harvesting. The creamy, white meat of the coconut is scooped out of the shell by hand. What you get is simply the creamy, fresh flavor of pure coconut.
Coconut oil is extremely versatile and can be used in place of both butter and other vegetable oils. A solid at cooler temperatures, it becomes liquid when warmed. It takes heat well and can be used for baking, sauteing, stir-frying or anywhere else you would use vegetable oil, shortening or butter.
