Flaxseed was eaten by the early Greeks and Romans like nuts. You may eat the natural untreated seeds whole, ground into meal, or sprouted. Used in small amounts, they add a crunchy quality when making muffins, waffles, pancakes, granola, or cooked cereals. When ground, Flaxseed Meal can be added to breads, muffins, hot cooked cereals and smoothies, and is one of the most powerful natural cholesterol controllers.
Bob's Red Mill products labeled Gluten Free are batch tested in our quality control laboratory. We use and ELISA Gluten Assay test to determine if a product is gluten free.
Flaxseed adds a light, nutty taste to foods, along with essential fats, dietary fiber and lignans. For optimal health benefit, seeds should be ground before eating.

These are a staple of my low carb pantry. I grind them in a coffee grinder to make pancakes and other low carb breads.

I use golden flaxseeds to make a granola. I soak the seeds overnight and toast them. Bob's Red Mill is a good brand and I like the golden flaxseeds over the darker ones. The golden ones are more flavorful... well, as far as flaxseeds go... we are definitely not eating them for their yummy qualities, but rather for their healthful qualities and they are quite beneficial.
