Really tasty! Yum!
Tastes more like black bean dip
Posted by hotdogtopus on Feb 12, 2017
I bought this because I thought it was like a soup, but it tastes more like refried beans. The package says one serving, but I don't know how anyone could eat that many beans at one sitting. I ate half with some salsa and tortilla chips and put the rest in the fridge.

Dr. McDougall making processed foods?
Posted by WardieWard3 on Aug 14, 2016
I was a little skeptical at buying a processed food, but since I find Dr. McDougall to be one of the foremost nutritional doctors in the field, I thought I'd give it a try. What I found was that the Black Bean & Lime Soup is a great way to thicken and creamy up a pot of freshly made black beans. I sneak this into my pot-o-beans (even my wife doesn't know) and get compliments all around for my beans. Eaten on it's own this instant bean pot is, well, maybe not the greatest but it makes a perfect recipe addition to bean stews.
Not appealing to my taste

I bought it due to its formulae which is based on the healthy Dr McDougall. I won't deny its health benefits of the ingredients, but the taste is just not appealing to me, I used the boiling water method(add hot water and let it soak), but the black beans seem to unable to cook tender despite immersing it for quite some time & has to stir hard to get a consistency.. It might be the temperature problem, but either way, my taste bud doesn't really like this. I might still tried out the other products under the same company though.
Pretty Good for Packaged Soup

Dr. McDougalls really has alot of mixed reviews. I really like this brand. You have to be realistic about packaged soups/noodles -- they are not going to replace the real thing. I find adding some fresh veggies really help. These are also good for school lunches. If you find this review helpful, please click "YES"
