Won me over on the 2nd try!
Won me over on the 2nd try!
Initially, I wasn't sold on this palette, there were no reviews when I bought it, so I was flying blind where baked eyeshadows were concerned. I tried to brush the eyeshadow on as I normally would & I got next to no product from any of the colours. There were no product instructions to indicate that baked eyeshadows should be used any differently to other eyeshadows, so I had no idea what I was doing wrong, but by now there was feedback from others suggesting they should be used wet. I wasn't 100% convinced, but they did seem to work wet - The big surprise was that once I'd wiped the palette down & let it dry, the very next time I used it, the colours worked perfectly well DRY! I figured there must've been some kind of film on the surface of the colours to protect them, because I bought 2 different palettes in this range & they both reacted the same way when new & once they'd been wiped down, the colours could be used both dry & wet. There is plenty of pigment in the eyeshadows, they go on nice & soft - even softer than the regular range, there's a pearlised lustre thru them & the enclosed mirror is quite a reasonable size. All in all, I think they're great. I'm going to buy the final palettes in the range too, but I've only given 4 stars because of a little bit of fallout & also I think they ought to put some kind of instructions or explanation on the packaging - my 2 palettes came quite close to being returned until I stumbled across a solution to make them work.

At the beginning, i was not sure how to use it as you need to use it wet. Even with the wet application i do not like the colours and it is not long lasting even with primer. I do not recommend this product

Another person wrote a very good review here about how to get these colours to actually apply to the skin - saying you need to wet each of the colours first, as there is a coating over them that you need to get off so the colour takes-up on your brush. (This coating seems to come back over time, so you will keep needing to do a wet clean-over.) I followed this, and also used the colours wet. They are very pigmented and hi-sparkle, so if that is your thing, you'll love this. If you want gentle eye colours that are matt and have no shimmer or sparkle, then this won't be the eye palette for you. I liked the colours and the quality, but in my opinion, these they work best on an olive or tanned skin, as you can't really make them look subtle on a pale skin and then they look too harsh.
love the color, HATE the glittery

I absolutely love the color of this palette 90% of the time. Except the bluish and purple color I do not find useful, I really love rest of the color. It is pigmented as well. However, the effect does not show of as what I want. There is simply TOO MUCH GLITTERY THAT ANNOYS ME. I thought is a more sheer color without all the stupid glitter. But this palette is definitely worth my money. Btw, the third color on the first doesn't even show on my skin(both hands and eyelids). Elf needs to do sth abt it. It is like the biggest flaw of the whole palette.
