Minerals are important factors utilized by the body to stay healthy and support its many functions. Antioxidants are substances that help inhibit oxidation and the damaging effects of free radicals. Selenium is an essential mineral shown to provide excellent antioxidant support in helping to fight the effects of free radicals. Futurebiotics Selenium provides 200 mcg of Selenium amino acid chelate per capsule from Albion Laboratories, the preferred source of nutritional mineral chelates.
Albion amino acid chelated minerals are produced through a patented technology and are specially formulated for optimum mineral absorption. Using an exclusive patented process, Albion binds minerals to amino acids to produce totally reacted (completely formed) mineral chelates, which are actively transported through the body and high absorbable since the body is very efficient at absorbing amino acids. Albion's special processing guarantees stability of the trace mineral compound so that the mineral, in this case Selenium, is available for use by the body. Good for Thyroid
My anti-aging doctor recommended a reacted form of selenium to help my thryroid. Apparently the absorbtion is better. However, do not take more than one capsule, because selenium can be toxic in higher doses. Works best along with Vitamin E to neutralize free radicals.

This selenium supplement being chelated increases absorption but according to some nutritionists selenium uses copper. Without taking copper or including copper with this selenium supplement copper in the body will be depleted. Dr Gerhard Shrauzer a selenium researcher stated the following on levels to take: "An extra 100–200 mcg of selenium per day in supplement form is perfectly safe. In fact, selenium intakes of 400 mcg/day were determined to be the maximal safe intake, and intakes of 750–800 mcg/day were proposed as the “upper limit of the safe dietary selenium intake.” At this point, it also must be mentioned that even higher selenium intakes may be well tolerated for extended periods by Americans, as long as their diets provide enough protein."
