Henna, henna, henna...
Henna, henna, henna...
Henna is truly a mess. You have to be so committed to avoiding chemicals to even fool with it. This product is a henna kit. First you apply the bright red henna undercoat (Step 1) to cover gray and give the second step something to bond to. Next you apply the Step 2 indigo/henna blend. Finally, you rinse for a long, long time. But this DOES actually cover gray. If you have gray roots, henna alone does not cover them. It is twice the work, but you need to use a kit like this to cover gray effectively. Medium brown is a good color, not too dark. I once used the dark brown version of this and ended up with black strands. So I stick with medium brown. INDIGO is impossible to remove. Do a strand test. PS You cannot go into chlorinated water once you have hennaed your hair unless you wear a bathing cap. Chlorinated pool water WILL turn your hair forest green. Word to the wise.
Does what it promises

my mom has been using this product for about 5 months now & she really likes it. it's much better than the traditional chemical hair dyes almost everyone uses nowadays. the color lasts for much longer (more than 4 weeks) & the hair becomes so healthy & shiny it's beautiful. but i would say that getting the color that you want takes trial & error; if you want a lighter brown color or some light brown highlights, then add turkish coffee instead of plain water. also, it's a lengthy process (about 4-5 hours), so set a pampering day for yourself aside. otherwise, amazing product & in the long term you won't have any of the side effects of chemical hair dyes.
Maybe choose a shade lighter than you'd think

Nice to have an option to buy and use cruelty-free, no synthetic chemicals, safe and natural. That being said, Whoa, this is no quick and easy does it product. It takes t-i-m-e especially if you're a newbie. So, make sure to plan for several hours. Just like cooking a recipe from scratch for the first time, read and re-read the directions. Be prepared to use multiple bowls (NOT metal ones though!). Also, It's messier than other's I've tried and I ruined a black shirt (which I've since banished to "hair-color-day-only" use). That being said. This product WORKED on my hair and has kept those little gray strands that showed up one day nicely colored for going on 3 weeks now. I'll be buying this again, and again.

When I bought this product, I didn't realize it was a two-phase application, which I have never seen before with similar products (and I have used henna for about 2 years). Very messy, left my face orange even if I applied oil, and complicated, maybe the quality of the product is good but I won't buy again because of the complications. My hair is not that long so I only used half of the package. I'll definitely toss the left overs and go back to the traditional Indian or Moroccan henna.
I wouldn't even give you one star.....

Unfortunately, I never got the product.....and iHerb has an "...it is not our fault(it is somebody elses's fault)attitude". I lost my money, 25 euros....I am not going to ever order from this site again!!! Delia
