With a history that dates back to the 1500's, hot cocoa has come a long way. Over the years, this historic drink has made its mark on civilizations from all over the world. The earliest version was pioneered by the Aztecs, served cold, and much different than the beverage we enjoy today. In its most primitive days, roasted cocoa beans were added to a mixture of wine and crushed chili peppers. During the 18th century, European chocolate houses were becoming extremely popular. It was there that British locals began adding steamed milk to their chocolate, and drinking it as a dessert beverage. Shortly, thereafter, cocoa powder was invented by the Dutch, making it easier to prepare the drink. Today, hot cocoa is enjoyed by people young and old, from every walk of life.
NOW Certified Organic Instant Hot Cocoa puts an organic twist on one of the world's most time honored winter traditions. This delicious, all natural drink mix is Certified Organic by QAI, mixes instantly, and is perfect for any occasion. It has a rich, milk chocolate taste that we're sure you'll love!

Best Hot Cocoa Mix
Best Hot Cocoa Mix
I have tried MANY hot cocoa mixes over the years searching for the perfect cup of hot chocolate. I've tried expensive and exclusive mixes and not so expensive ones. I had given up completely when I noticed in the NOW catalog that they had a hot cocoa mix. I decided to try one last time and I'm so glad I did. This is what I have been searching for all these years!! It is absolutely PERFECT. It tastes so good. I make it with 3/4 c. organic evaporated milk and 3/4 c. water and 3 tbsp. NOW hot cocoa mix. I feel so good after I drink it, because it is nutritious - not just sweet. Thanks iHerb for the NOW catalog.
Good but hard to stir

I have a whole process I go through with this to get the lumps out involving microwaving it for a minute with about 1/4c of milk, then stirring again. It's good, but that part is kind of irritating. I might try something else and compare. The taste is good and it's a good price for what you get.

Yummy but LUMPY!

This is the most delicious drinking chocolate mix I have ever tasted but boy, is it difficult to dissolve!! I used super hot water, hot water, warm water and out of desperation, cold water, but got the same lumpy result each time. I stirred briskly with a spoon, a fork and even a mini whisk, but, still got chocolates bits and lumps throughout the beverage :P I guess it would be ok, if you like sprinkles in your hot chocolate, but I like mine smooth. Flavorwise, this beats the pants off Swiss Miss, but I like how easily Swiss Miss dissolves. The only way to get the smooth result I want is to put the powder and liquid into a shaker and shake the living daylights out of it. Imagine the pressure build up in a tightly lidded container of agitated HOT liquid. I was afraid to uncap it after shaking. Or the tedium of shaking a cold mixture then heating it up. Eh. No thanks.
