Soluble fiber from foods such as Psyllium Husk, as a part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of NOW Psyllium Husk Fiber supplies 2 grams of the 7 grams of soluble fiber from psyllium husk necessary per day to have this effect.
Psyllium is a true dietary fiber, even though it is classified by some as a laxative or mucilaginous fiber, and is a convenient way to increase intake of dietary fiber because of its high mucilage content. This bulking agent swells considerably when added to liquid, which can help to support gastrointestinal transit time. This bulking action and healthy transit time can play an important role in maintaining healthy gastrointestinal function.
As a dietary supplement, mix 1 heaping teaspoon into at least 12 oz of water or juice and consume immediately. Be sure to drink plenty of additional fluids throughout the day. Start with smaller amounts and gradually increase over several weeks. Consider taking this product in combination with NOW Gr8-Dophilus, Triphala and Detox Support.

I've used psyllium fiber for more than 10 years. I've tried different brands, and now I have definetely found the brand that I am sticking with! No sugar, yet the beet powder makes is sweet. Now Foods is a name that I trust.

Health benefits of fiber have lower blood cholesterol levels, help maintain insulin levels and reduce the risk of colon cancer and breast cancer. Fiber also allow better digestion and may prevent overeating as contributing to the reduction of desire for food.Well they drink because they do not irritate the throat (tonsillectomy, for example)

I was looking at the nutritional breakdown of this product and plain psyllium and I realized that only 50% of the carbs are fiber whereas the plain psyllium is nearly 100% fiber. The rest is maltodextrin and sugar from the beet powder. Maltodextrin actually has a HIGHER glycemic index than sugar! Which means it's worse than sugar.
