Methylation – the addition of a methyl group (CH4 – one carbon attached to three hydrogens) to another molecule – is an essential and vital biochemical process within the human body that is involved in a large number of biochemical pathways involving neurotransmitters, detoxification, cardiovascular health, eye health, muscle health, bone health, and redox balance. A number of specific nutrients are necessary for methylation to occur normally.
Methyl-Guard Plus contains higher amounts of 5MTHF (the active form of folate), pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (active B6), and methylcobalamin (active B12), than our original Methyl-Guard. We have also added riboflavin 5'-phosphate (the active form of vitamin B2) for its positive effect on homocysteine metabolism and methylation. These ingredients provide the necessary nutrients the body uses to push forward the process of methylation. Methyl-Guard Plus is more concentrated, so your patients will appreciate the recommended daily amount of three capsules, which will improve compliance. Our original Methyl-Guard is still available.
Take 1-3 capsules daily or as recommended by a health-care practitioner.
Hypromellose (derived from cellulose) capsule, calcium citrate, calcium laurate.

I am taking this supplement along with others to help with methylation and reduce homocysteine. My homocysteine blood tests have improved from 13.7 down to 6.1 (optimum range) but I also used L-Serine (the Amino Acid NOT Phosphatidyl Serine) This supplement contains the L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5MTHF) form of Folate which I can take I DO NOT TAKE FOLIC ACID as I have the C677T Methyl Folate Reductase enzyme genetic mutation (MTHFR) Due to this mutation the folate cycle is impaired in my metabolism so folic acid does not convert to 5-Metyl-tetra-hydro-folate (5MTHF)
Is anybody out there?

I won't do reviews for iHerb, until someone from iHerb follows up my one and only complaint about a delivery that I received recently which did not contain all the items that I ordered (and had paid for). Regards, Robert Boscarato
MTHFR mutation... no worries

If you have a serious methylation issue this should be your go to product for fixing it. Diet alone won't cut it. The recommended dose is three caps but I find that's too much if taken daily. I take one in the morning and one at night. Keeps my moods stable and energy levels stable. Basically if you have a MTHFR gene mutation issue and you want to return to a nice "average" then take this stuff.

Methyl-Guard is the only product we've found which helps with my daughter's mineral levels. So easy to order online and sent on time.
