Old-Fashioned Oatmeal (rolled) makes my blood-sugar drop rapidly, but the steel-cut variety does not do this. These differ from the old-fashioned variety in that the texture remains a little "nutty." This is a delicious alternative, and it has more fiber.

Dr. recommended oatmeal everyday .. needed to mix things up occasionally so as not to become bored with the same old breakfast everyday. Steel Cut Oats have a chewier texture and richer flavor. Now I have a choice with my oatmeal. Highly recommend ~
