I've spent the last year trying to find things that help clear up acne. This is one of the things I found that actually helps. Wrote an article about this, here's a summary: "Health benefits of green tea related to acne-reduction, separated into the different components of the tea": Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG): This is the game changer. Green Tea and White Tea contains EGCG which has antioxidant like activity. It's has anti-viral, anti-infective, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties. Most important effects of this: less development of acne and less candida. From a personal standpoint, I can literary feel and see the inflammation in my acne dying out from within, and my acne becoming considerably less. Also it kills bacteria leading to acne, so you reduce future breakouts. EGCG has been shown to be 25 to 100 times more potent than vitamins C and E in terms of antioxidant activity. ECGC reduces conversion of testosterone to DHT. DHT is a byproduct of testosterone and can be detrimental for acne-sufferers. Balancing DHT levels is good if you have acne. Spearmint: Benefits of this mint include bettering of digestion, which causes less toxins to get stuck in your bowel and enter your bloodstream. Also it contains a lot of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It also reduces transformation of testosterone to DHT which further balances DHT levels, and you get better skin. Peppermint: Aids in digestion and contains antioxidants. Regular consumption of green tea reduces insulin resistance and blood sugar levels. This Green Tea makes you more relaxed so that you produce less stress hormones, and in turn get less acne. L-Theanine: L-Theanine (gamma-ethylamino-L-glutamic acid) is a non-protein forming amino acid found almost exclusively in the green leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) In short, it makes you more happy and relaxed, again, great for your skin. Decaffeinated: This is critical! Caffeine is really not your friend when it comes to acne. It makes the body produces stress hormones, making your immune system less effective. It also dries out your skin. Regular green tea contains 1/3 of the caffeine content in coffee, and you can see how this would not be advantageous. Tastes good: Just a bonus. My last tips would be to check out "Freebies" and "Trials" on top of this page in the middle. Lots of interesting things there.
