Fair Substitute for Cocoa Powder

Substitute for cocoa in chocolate cake. Use a full cup for a 2-layer cake if you want that sinfully-rich effect. However, be prepared to really play with a classic cake recipe to get a chocolatey flavor. Use less sugar, because carob is sweeter than cocoa. Add acidity and bitterness, because believe it or not, part of what chocoholics love about chocolate is that it has very complex components like that. I add sour cream and a tablespoon of instant coffee, then blend super-well. Remember, you can always use decaffeinated coffee.

Good cocoa substitute

Of course it's not as good as the real thing, but if you are trying to kick the caffeine habit, this helps by giving you just a little chocolate flavored treat. I used the powder in a shake, but there are many possibilities

It taste great, but still like cocoa a little better, have to get used to the carob taste and experiment with it in baking..

Good replacement for chocolate, and it's naturally sweet too so I hardly have to add any sweetener. Used this to flavor my plain soy milk and yogurt.

when added to cakes, cupcakes can not be distinguished from chocolate while looking at. Taste, of course, different from chocolate, but not much, and quite pleasant. It is a pity because a lot of sugar. If the product was manufactured with sugar substitute, the stuff would be beyond price and invaluable.
