    For those with sensitive stomachs...

    Posted by Reviewer1580303 on Jun 20, 2014

I had the worst stomachache of my life after eating about twenty of these on empty stomach. With a history of recurrent gastritis and GERD, I know immediately it was some kind of a digestive issue so I took an emergency dose of digestive enzymes and mastic gum and after about four hours of pain, it finally went away. Once I felt better I did research on the internet andI found that raw almonds contain enzyme inhibitors which give some people digestive problems. Soaking them is supposed to to help remove or decrease these enzyme inhibitors, while also making other nutrients in them more available for the body to absorb (such as vitamins B and protein), so I am going to try that now to see if that works for me. You soak them for 8~12 hrs in salt water in room temp, after which you dry them in the oven at 115~125F for another 12+ hours. If you want to save time, you can roast them for instead for 20 min, though they won't be as nutritious. These taste great the way they are and I wish I could eat them without any preparation... but why not if they'll be more nutritious after soaking. If you are someone with a sensitive digestive system like me, I'd advise you to be careful about eating these especially on empty stomach, and look into soaking and drying/roasting.

Not bad, but something strange on the taste... like old. But good price. I will buy it again.

I found these almonds more chewy and less flavorful than regular European almonds available at local supermarkets and health food stores.

Not the most succulent almonds, but they're ok.
