This organic ayurvedic tea is really unique and combines the power of India's two most revered herbs: tulsi, or holy basil, and gotu kola. Tulsi, which means in Sanskrit "the incomparable one", is known in India as "the Queen of Herbs" and considered sacred. It's a powerful adaptogen and beneficial in treating stress, anxiety, insomnia, chronic fatigue syndrome, colds, flu, fever, upper respiratory tract infections, tonsillitis, bronchitis, diabetes, asthma, migraines, earache, digestive disorders, gastrointestinal upset, indigestion, colitis, bloating, cramps, heart disease, hepatitis, malaria, tuberculosis, mercury poisoning, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, ringworm, as well as other conditions. Gotu kola famous for its strong anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral and healing properties is used to treat colds, flu, fever, tonsillitis, elephantiasis, pleurisy, tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, urinary tract infections, syphilis, dysentery, cholera, leprosy, asthma, epilepsy, anemia, diabetes, hepatitis, jaundice, systemic lupus erythematosus, stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion, gastrointestinal ulcers, sunstroke, varicose veins, blood clots, chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety, stress, depression, psychiatric disorders, Alzheimer's disease, and many other diseases and disorders. It's no surprise that this tea energizes and awakens the senses, uplifts mood, flushes toxins out of the body, boosts the immune system, fights infection, facilitates healing, reduces inflammation, relieves pain and swelling of the mucous membranes, improves metabolism and fat burning, boosts energy levels, aids digestion, prevents heartburn and acid reflux, relieves nausea and bloating, improves appetite, heals gastric and intestinal ulcers, soothes the stomach lining, reduces colon inflammation, helps stabilize blood sugar and regulate insulin levels, prevents blood spikes, normalizes blood pressure, lowers triglycerides and LDL or "bad" cholesterol levels while increasing HDL or "good" cholesterol, protects against strokes, atherosclerosis and peripheral arterial disease, soothes and heals dry and damaged skin, and even reduces the risk of cancer. It can be used externally, as well. A used tea bag can be applied topically to reduce skin irritation and inflammation, heal wounds, abscesses, sores, insect bites, scars, bruises, cuts, boils, blisters, burns and rashes. A tulsi and gotu kola facial mask or scrub improves the complexion, brightens and evens out skin tone, reduces redness, spots, blotchiness and small lines, helps prevent premature aging. I love this tea: it relieves the symptoms of my acid reflux and gastritis, calms me down and helps me sleep better. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to boost their immune system and improve their overall health and well-being.

This Tulsi tea has the added benefit of Gotu Kola and this flavour of Tulsi Tea is NOT sweetened like some of the Organic India teas. I prefer unsweetened teas. Mercola has a webpage on Tulsi on his website stating that benefits include
Helps support your respiratory system health*
Gives you antioxidant protection against free radicals*
Provides you with a calming effect and relief from occasional stress*
Helps support your immune system*
Balances the health of your digestive system*
Helps you maintain blood sugar levels already in the normal range*
Gotu Kola also known as Brahmi has many benefits also. Most commonly used as a brain tonic for enhanced memory, concentration and clarity of mind.
A Staple In My House

My tea collection is a bit out of control at times, but this is one tea you'll always find in the cabinet. Do some research on holy basil (Tulsi) if you aren't familiar with it - the list of potential benefits is impressive. This tea is certified organic and I've personally been very pleased with the products from Organic India. This is my daily mid-morning cup of tea...an oasis of calm in an otherwise hectic day.
