One of the best sources of alpha-linolenic fatty acid, lignans, fiber, essential vitamins and minerals.

Posted by Leione on Apr 21, 2014

Flax seeds are truly a superfood. They're one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic fatty acid famous for fighting inflammation, relieving pain, boosting metabolism and facilitating fat burning, and the best source of lignans known for protecting against colon, breast and prostate cancer by blocking enzymes that are involved in hormone metabolism and interfering with the growth and spread of tumor cells. But that's not all: flax seeds are also an excellent source of fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals: one ounce of flax seeds provides a whopping 8 grams of fiber (31% of the recommended daily intake), 6 grams of protein, 35% of the RDI of manganese, 27% of magnesium, 18% phosphorus, 17% of copper, 10% of selenium, 9% of iron, 8% of zinc, 7% of calcium, 7% of pota ssium, 31% of thiamin, 7% of vitamin B6, 6% of folic acid, 4% of niacin, 3% of riboflavin and pantothenic acid, 2% of vitamin K, not to mention that they're naturally gluten and cholesterol free and suitable for people suffering from gluten intolerance and celiac disease. It's no surprise that flax seeds are packed with health benefits and can help people suffering from diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, heart disease, gastritis, acid reflux, nausea, indigestion, menstrual cramps, asthma, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, arthritis, rheumatism, autoimmune disorders, and even cancer: they stabilize blood sugar, regulate insulin levels and prevent blood spikes keeping you full longer, aid digestion, prevent heartburn and acid reflux, increase appetite, soothe the stomach lining, reduce inflammation, normalize blood pressure, lower triglycerides and LDL or "bad" cholesterol levels while increasing HDL or "good" cholesterol, improve blood circulation, protect against strokes, atherosclerosis and peripheral arterial disease, help maintain healthy skin, hair and nails, and even reduce the risk of certain types of cancer. These organic flax seeds are one of my favorite products. They normalize my cholesterol and blood pressure, help my acid reflux and gastritis and keep me full for a long time stabilizing my blood sugar. To get maximum health benefits, I grind them and add them to oatmeal, cereal, soups, salads, yogurt, smoothies and many different recipes. Glad I ordered them.

No doubt body likes this product for Omega 3. I blend with a group of whole foods for a "green" drink each morning. Especially noticed is the healthy looking hair.

    Good source of fiber

I grind up the seeds fresh with our coffee grinder, putting them in salads, hot cereal etc. There is no obvious taste. We appreciate the extra fiber added to our diet.

    Very Good Product!

I grind these up in a small grinder and put in my protein shakes. Great fiber and has made a real difference with my bowel problems. Also great source of antioxidants & omega 3 fatty acids. I've read that buying whole seed and grinding up and adding to foods gives the best nutrition from flaxseed.

I do not like the taste. I like sealable packaging. I will not repurchase it.
