You need Vitamin D to absorb calcium. People who avoid the sun, use sunscreen, or have dark skin are particularly vulnerable to D deficiency, which can lead to osteoporosis and depression (especially Seasonal Affective Disorder in northern climates.) You can overdose on D -- it doesn't dissolve in water and can be stored in body fat -- but not at this level. One a day is enough.

I was looking for a Vitamin D3 product for the winter months that contains close to Recommended Daily Dose and not 10x more than that, because Vit D is toxic in that high amounts. The 1000 IU is just fine. I also like the fact that it contains olive oil, and not some grain based oil. The tiny capsules are so easy to swallow. Another good product with low dose of Vit D3 is Thorne Research, D-1000, ( http://bit.ly/160VQxN ). Check iherb special offers ( http://bit.ly/10HsXSk ). Don’t forget the freebies! ( http://bit.ly/18X9Wik ). If you thought that this review was helpful please feel free to press the 'yes' button.

Vitamin D –‘Enormous potential to beat cancer’ - Are you getting enough? Drops has the topmost price/performance ratio but this's ok

My personal physician told me the last ten years has seen a huge body of research evidence showing that: *Vitamin D is an important factor in cancer prevention. *Vitamin D activates the immune system to work against rogue cells. *Vitamin D has the ability to normalise and correct cancer cells. So it boosts the immune system, prevents cancer, AND can even help beat it. What more do you want? Oh, it plays an important role in preventing all manner of illnesses too! You can only obtain reasonable quantities of this vitamin through exposure to sunshine; a far lesser amount may be obtained through consuming oily fish. After that, other foods contribute very little. So the third option is supplementation; take your pick! My number 1 choice is Vitamin D3 Drops( http://goo.gl/31ij6 ), because it is in extra virgin olive oil and has no other ingredients. A whole year's sunlight in one bottle! But the drops was out of stock so I picked this and still great value. I love the small, easy-to-take pills. (I have a gagging problem with regular pills.)

I've just added this to my regimen. I probably don't produce enough vitamin D of my own due to lack of sunlight exposure. I'm finding that this might be a very important vitamin. So far I definately feel some anti-inflammatory benefits, and this helps with the body ache I experience due to ME/CFS. It is so cheap I recommend trying it.
