The essential amino acid L-tryptophan helps support relaxation, restful sleep, and a positive outlook. It plays a part in the synthesis of both melatonin and serotonin, hormones involved with mood and stress response. This tryptophan includes the activated coenzyme form of vitamin B-6, called P-5-P, that is required to convert tryptophan to serotonin. L-Tryptophan also supports immune functions because it is the body's precursor to the kynurenines that regulate immunity. If needed, L-tryptophan converts to niacin in the body, which supports circulation, a healthy nervous system, the metabolism of food, and the production of hydrochloric acid for the digestive system. Source Naturals L-Tryptophan is extremely pure and is regularly tested to ensure the highest standards of quality.
1 tablet three times daily, between meals and preferably with fruit juice. To support restful sleep, take 3 tablets before bed.
Dibasic calcium phosphate, stearic acid, modified cellulose gum, and silica.

iHerb Customer Reviews
I have tried varieties of L-Tryptophan. Even one compounded by a pharmacist. This version with the Coenzyme B-6 is the most remarkable. I feel better quickly and sleep very well at night. It helps with daily stress and is perfectly safe. Eliminates many cravings for sugar and caffeine. A great investment in my health. Wouldn't be without it.
The inclusion of B6 as p5p was a good choice in conjunction with tryptophan. The Dr. Best formula includes B3 as niacinamide (which is a known soporific agent), but having added my own niacinamide, I cannot perceive any difference. Melatonin is synthesized AFTER serotonin. The synthesis of serotonin (and other neurotransmitters) is catalyzed by a B6-dependent enzyme. Furthermore, B6 is required to manufacture Niacin from tryptophan. Thus a reason one might choose tryptophan over melatonin is NOT to skip any intermediary steps (there are a few studies showing that direct melatonin supplementation reduces levels of intermediary products). I use low-dose melatonin anyway (Same brand, sustained release) because sleep is scarce.

This seems to do the job as described. I sometimes need a little something for sleep.

I take two of these before bed and i find I have a more restful sleep and don't wake up during the night. I like the Source Naturals brand, I have tried a few different supplements from them and I find they've worked better than other brands.
At bottom line ..didnt like it

It has nothing to do with this specific product cause i believe any other tyrptophan product will make me feel dizzy heavy and severly depressed. I myself have some liver inflamation so it might be that tryptophan clearance in my case is defected and thus i feel bad with it. But i read at the internet that it may have many adverse effects on healthy people too and i'm not sure it is a good idea to use trypthopah products from what i read, no matter who is its vendor. Use the internet to learn more about tryptophan supplements to be aware of its possible side effects.
Well... My insomnia seemed more powerful than I thought.

I tried two pills per every night to help me fall asleep, but I ended up waking up till 4 or 6 a.m, like I usually did. (I think this symptom of insomnia has slowly developed as chronic one that I could hardly control now.) I could not see any changes, but I will try for three months to see the improvement. If these pills are not working, I might consider to buy more stronger inducer pills. hah...
