Thyroid antibodies lower

Posted by iHerb Customer on May 30, 2015 | Verified Purchase

I had elevated antibodies against my thyroid, so my doctor recommended that I take a supplement with beta glucans, calcium d-glucarate, and Lactobacillus lysate. I substituted separate supplements because they were significantly less expensive than the combination product. Three months later, my latest blood test shows healthy levels of antibodies. My doctor suspects it's primarily the result of the beta glucans.

Easy to use

Posted by iHerb Customer on Apr 16, 2015 | Verified Purchase

I've never filled capsules before and I don't have a capsule machine, so I was a little worried that these would be too difficult to use. I haven't had any trouble with them, though. They come with the two halves lightly joined. The halves separate easily for filling, and the cap half snaps into place with light pressure. Then it's secure. I've been using mine for food grade essential oils that are too strongly flavored to take orally without a capsule. Update: Once in a while, a capsule leaks. I rattle them around in my pill organizer fairly vigorously, so that might be part of it, but the oil leaking makes a mess. (If I were just using these for powders, I don't think it would be a problem.)

Good unsweetened vanilla

Posted by iHerb Customer on Apr 16, 2015 | Verified Purchase

Less than a decade ago, all the good vanilla extracts were just hard liquor and vanilla. Vanilla is mostly perceived through its aroma, and like salt, it strengthens whatever flavors it accompanies. When people taste vanilla straight out of the bottle, and it will taste strongly alcoholic because of the strengthening effect of the vanilla on the alcohol's flavor. Once added to baked goods or diluted in drinks, the alcohol is no longer noticeable. I can't eat corn products, and I cook for diabetics who need to avoid excess sugars, so the recent addition of corn syrup to extracts is extremely frustrating, especially since it's grown out of the misconception that quality extracts should be sweet and delicious out of the bottle. Aroma is more pertinent than flavor for determining quality extracts. Singing Dog has a moderately strong vanilla aroma, and it's successfully added the flavor that my baked goods and hot chocolate have been missing. I think I would like it to be a little heavier, but it works.

No noticeable effects

Posted by iHerb Customer on Aug 21, 2016 | Verified Purchase

I tend to have digestive difficulties, and I've noticed a significant improvement in the frequency and form of elimination when on another probiotic. Not so with LactoBif. I took the capsules for a couple of weeks with no noticeable effects. On the plus side, at least I didn't experience any negative side effects. The other probiotic contained 20+ billion CFU per dose.

Migraine support

Posted by iHerb Customer on Jun 02, 2017 | Verified Purchase

There have been a couple of well-designed studies on the effects of riboflavin on migraines. In high doses (400 mg daily), it reduced the frequency and severity of migraines in about 60% of patients with frequent, chronic migraines. It takes 4-8 weeks to produce results. I began taking this, along with butterbur, in 2015. It wasn't a miracle cure, but it seems to raise my migraine threshold. I've experimented with not taking it and with taking less of it, and both times I became more sensitive to my migraine triggers. It took just as long to build up to a therapeutic level once I restarted it as the first time (4-8 weeks), so I regretted stopping. It makes my urine very yellow. No other side effects.

Helped some, but ...

Posted by iHerb Customer on Jul 09, 2015 | Verified Purchase

I've been using this lotion on a ringworm infection, and overall, it's failed to clear up the infection in the four-week period recommended for ringworm, although during the first two weeks, the infection became less visible and itchy. The third week, it flared up worse than before, and the fourth week, it became dry, flaky, and painful. However, I've had this infection for a couple of years now, and it's also resisted 2% miconazole nitrate and survived 30 days of fluconazole (a strong oral anti-fungal), so this infection may be particularly treatment-resistant. Update: The ringworm infection continued to heal after I stopped using the antifungal lotion, and it was completely gone within another month. It hasn't recurred in the year or so since.

Enormous pills

Posted by iHerb Customer on May 30, 2015 | Verified Purchase

I can't speak to the effectiveness HGH Surge because I find the pills uncomfortable to swallow. They are approximately 7/8 x 3/8 x 3/16 inches, and they have cornered edges rather than smooth ones. I don't usually have trouble swallowing pills, either; I often toss three or four back at a time.

Very pleased

Posted by iHerb Customer on Feb 19, 2015 | Verified Purchase

The oil was fresh when it arrived and has kept very well on my cool, dark pantry shelf for the past month. It smells very fragrant but has a mild flavor that nearly vanishes in any dish with a moderate amount of spices. At first, I would spoon too much into the pan when frying. It spreads out very well, so a little goes a long way.

Great with tea and fruit

Posted by iHerb Customer on Jun 02, 2017 | Verified Purchase

Most stevia products are blends. This one is just stevia extract. It comes with a tiny scoop. One scoop equals one teaspoon. I've used it in tea, coffee, carob muffins, pineapple muffins, and other fruit-and-bread dishes. It worked best in dishes that were already a little sweet and just needed a little boost. It doesn't seem to combat bitterness well. It makes me wonder if it's a bit of a flavor-enhancer, as well as a sweetener. When I want to make something very sweet, like a cupcake, I combine it with xylitol or erythritol.
