Great, lower glycemic sweetener!

Posted by iHerb Customer on Nov 25, 2007 | Verified Purchase

This agave nectar really has a wonderful flavor. It's very light (hardly noticable in recipes) and has a delicious sweetness. I've used this in pumpkin pie, sweet potato casserole, and cranberry sauce, and it really is delicious. Just be sure to reduce your liquids a bit and your baking temperature by 25 degrees. Also, use 1/3 less of this than you would sugar. While this certainly isn't low calorie, it is a delicious, all natural, lower glycemic alternative to sugar. GI of agave is somewhere between 10 and 38, from the sources I've checked, and sugar is about 58. Hubby has enjoyed everything I've made with it, so it will become a regular staple in our house.

Interesting snack item

I find the flavor of yacon to be very reminiscent of apples. That said, these slices were a bit drier than I expected, but make for a nice mouthful of something sweet when you just want a bite of something. This bag will probably last awhile in my house, but if I were going hiking, it would be a great energy item to bring along.

Best stevia I've had by far!

Posted by iHerb Customer on Nov 25, 2007 | Verified Purchase

This liquid stevia has the least aftertaste of any I've ever used. I have used it in beverages (hot and cold), baked goods, and other items, and I absolutely love it. Yes, it needs refrigeration, but no biggie for me.

Good sugar substitute with an unusual, pleasant flavor

Posted by iHerb Customer on Nov 25, 2007 | Verified Purchase

I recently used this to replace the sugar in a muffin recipe. The result was a less sweet, slightly complex flavor. I find the flavor of this to be something of a cross between apples and molasses. I was a bit stingy with it in my first experiment, perhaps due to the price and inexperience! I will use it again, as I like the result, and appreciate the nutritional values this offers.
