Contains soybean oil

Posted by emanuela on Nov 02, 2013 | Verified Purchase

I totally agree with the other one star review. Soybean oil is a nasty, cheap oil. Moreover, it is very likely made from GM soy, as most of the world's supply of soy is GM. WHY ruin an otherwise good product idea (mixed tocopherols) like this? SHAME ON YOU, NOW FOODS! Avoid this product. Show Now Foods and other supplement manufacturers that you expect more of your health supplements.

Contains sodium selenite

Posted by emanuela on Apr 02, 2016 | Verified Purchase

I like the dosage and the fact it contains vitamin E but... it also contains the form of selenium called "sodium selenite". Dr Mercola writes "According to the 1986 edition of the Handbook of the Toxicology of Metals, daily intake of about one milligram of selenium as selenite can be toxic. In one study, sodium selenite was found to induce substantial DNA damage in human fibroblasts." (google Mercola sodium selenite to read the whole article). I am not sure if Life Extension is aware of this, or if they think 50mcg is low enough not to pose a risk or if they believe the two other forms will "make up" for the selenite somehow, but I am no longer buying this item. Why risk adding the selenite form at all? I will enquire further but using a different form at the moment.

Origin: (polluted) China

Posted by emanuela on Jul 01, 2013 | Verified Purchase

This comes from China, its organic status is meaningless. I am very disappointed and won't buy it again. Need I say more? This comes from China, a heavily polluted country You just CANNOT TRUST that it is free of contaminants or good quality. What a shame! For more info, read naturalnews dot com - Do yourself a favour and avoid this product and any other "superfoods" from China, except perhaps goji berries (as they come from the mountainous regions) Hope this information helps you keep good health!

Contains Alcloxa :-(

So much for "all natural"... still contains aluminium salts.

I do believe this helps clear my intestine of any nasty stuff

Posted by emanuela on Aug 01, 2012 | Verified Purchase

It seems to reduce intestinal discomfort and increase my energy levels. I took it several times after a bad episode of "bad tummy" while travelling and to help get rid of H.Pylori (together with mastic gum, broccoli extract, daily cabbage salad, ginger, turmeric and oregano). Well, I don't have H.Pylori anymore and I didn't take triple therapy or any other antibiotic. I recommend a period cleanse with this product, at least autumn and spring.

Yes, no parabens but still contains disodium EDTA!

I wish Home Health would remove disodium EDTA from this product.

Used to love it but now looking elsewhere

Posted by emanuela on Jul 06, 2015 | Verified Purchase

I used this after sunbathing... not only did it cool down my skin, but it also removed the excessive redness on my mum's face. Also, the mintiness seems to reduce the itching of the mosquito bites (not a problem here in the UK, but definitely in other countries...). UPDATE: It currently (July 2015) scores *3* overall on skindeep database PROBLEMS INGREDIENTS: 1) SODIUM HYDROXYMETHYLGLYCINATE (FORMALDEHYDE RELEASER !!! - Score 6 !!!) Cancer, Allergies/immunotoxicity, Contamination concerns (FORMALDEHYDE), Use restrictions - Data: Limited - 2) PHENOXYETHANOL (Score: 4) Allergies/immunotoxicity, Irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs), Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive), Occupational hazards, Use restrictions Not happy about these ingredients, so I am looking elsewhere. I also think the tube has become smaller over the years and therefore the product is more expensive than before.

100% magnesium bisglycinate (NOT buffered)

Posted by emanuela on Nov 08, 2015 | Verified Purchase

I buy this because it contains no nasty eccipients and is 100% magnesium bisglycinate, NOT a buffered form with lots of magnesium oxide in it. Taste: I would not describe it as pleasant, but had not really noticed it frankly. I mix it with water, mix it well and drink it. I am however someone who drinks green powders/drinks all day. You might want to mix in a smoothie if the taste bothers you.

Natrol won't reply to my query

Posted by emanuela on Mar 09, 2014 | Verified Purchase

I have written to Natrol twice asking whether this product contains GMO (for instance, the vitamin C part). No reply yet. I am suspicious of companies that do not take the time to reply to customer queries.
