I'd say more good things about the products I use but won't since nobody is paying me to review anything. Please work with your donkey before discontinuing any drug or starting a supplement regimen. I sincerely hope this was not helpful to you and please remember to vote all my reviews thumbs down. Let's pretend I give a crap and leave it at that.

Doctor's Best, Stabilized R-Lipoic Acid, 100 mg, 180 Veggie Capsules

Posted by noneofyourfrigginbusiness on Mar 08, 2012 | Verified Purchase

R-Lipoic Acid is exceptionally suitable for supporting the retina of the eye because it can enter the mitochondria, recycle other antioxidants, and is regenerated by high blood sugar. R-Lipoic Acid can help protect the nervous system from the damaging effects of unhealthy blood sugar metabolism, it appears to support healthy glucose uptake and utilization directly.

If you take DL-phenylalanine you really need to take this important mineral.

Posted by noneofyourfrigginbusiness on Oct 10, 2012 | Verified Purchase

Sometimes you take DL-phenylalanine and something happens; you get more energized. And a lot of times nothing at all happens. Part of that is because other nutrients such as vitamin B6, vitamin C, folic acid and copper are needed in order to convert phenylalanine into noradrenaline and dopamine. These are essential nutrients that are required as co-factors to enzymes that are involved in the process of conversion. These materials - the copper and the vitamin B6 - are also required to convert phenylalanine into beta phenylethylamine, which is a neuromodulator in your brain that modulates the effects of noradrenaline and dopamine and probably some other neurotransmitters as well.

Silymarin Milk Thistle Extract

Posted by noneofyourfrigginbusiness on Nov 28, 2007 | Verified Purchase

I wish Now Foods would put out a Silymarin-Phosphatidylcholine complex product instead of the dandelion and artichoke included in this basic formulation. The quality is good, though. Silymarin-phosphatidylcholine complex is absorbed more easily than regular standardized milk thistle extracts. In clinical trials, the silymarin-phosphatidylcholine complex has worked better for treating liver disorders. A key element in cell membranes, phosphatidylcholine helps the silymarin attach easily to the cell membranes.

Jarrow Formulas, NAC, 600 mg, 100 Tablets

Posted by noneofyourfrigginbusiness on Oct 27, 2010 | Verified Purchase

Clinical research has proven that L-cysteine is safer to take on a daily basis than sustained-release NAC; this powerful antioxidant should be cycled and should not be taken continuously. Please note that NAC is an altered version of L-cysteine and thus has the potential for more side effects. Please use NAC with caution and tell your physician you take this product.

Now Foods, Indole-3-Carbinol with Flax Lignans, 200 mg, 60 Vcaps

Posted by noneofyourfrigginbusiness on Mar 16, 2009 | Verified Purchase

A growing body of evidence documents the potent inhibition of the growth and invasion of a number of human cancers by indole-3-carbinol, a natural constituent of cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. Its effects have been particularly well studied in its suppression of human breast cancer. A very interesting new (2008) study further reports that I3C is a natural elastase enzymatic inhibitor that disrupts cyclin E protein processing, causing a G1 cell-cycle arrest (stopping progression of cell division) of human breast cancer cells. As the authors explain, “I3C acts as a specific and potent noncompetitive enzymatic inhibitor of human neutrophil elastase activity, which is highly expressed in breast cancer cells and has been shown to be a prognostic marker for reduced survival rates of primary breast cancer patients." In another recent study, 2 researchers report that I3C inhibits cell proliferation and in vitro markers of angiogenesis (expansion of tumor blood supply) in human endothelial cells in the presence of phorbol myristate acetate, a potent angiogenesis stimulator.

Country Life, Charcoal, 260 mg (4 gr.), 100 Capsules

Posted by noneofyourfrigginbusiness on Feb 27, 2009 | Verified Purchase

Charcoal is safe. Toxicology studies have proven that activated charcoal is basically harmless. Activated charcoal is highly absorbent; however, when it is ingested at the same time as medication, supplements and foods it may decrease their absorption and utilization. Therefore, always allow 2 hours before and wait 2 hours after using activated charcoal to eat, take supplements or swallow medication. The regular use of activated charcoal improves the adaptive functioning of essential organs (the liver, kidneys, and adrenals). That translates into better defense mechanisms. Please Note: The presence of the amino acid supplement N-Acetyl-Cysteine ("NAC") reduces the ability of activated charcoal to absorb acetaminophen ("Tylenol").

Now Foods, L-Carnosine, 500 mg, 100 Capsules

Posted by noneofyourfrigginbusiness on May 02, 2010 | Verified Purchase

High quality; L-Carnosine supports healthy aging and cellular rejuvenation by its effects on two mechanisms: glycosylation and free radical damage. Glycosylation is the oxidation of proteins by glucose resulting in cross-linking of proteins and which is implicated in loss of cell function, genome integrity and accelerated aging. L-Carnosine also protects the aging process of the brain by retarding lipid peroxidation and stabilizing cell membranes.
