Great gluten-free substitute for linguini

Posted by Reviewer1222987 on Aug 14, 2011 | Verified Purchase

I'd been using Annie Chun's white rice pad thai noodles as a gluten-free substitute for linguini until I stumbled across these brown rice noodles doing an internet search. They're great! Quick and easy (about 4 minutes) to cook, good texture, and about 4 times the fiber of the white rice version. Good in pad thai too, of course.

Pretty good, though not my favorite

These are good protein bars and really do have a pretty good apple pie taste. They're part of the original line of Quest Bars, with somewhat higher net carbs (6 grams in this case) than the new 100% natural line (2 grams net carbs) - still very healthy. I tried ordering some Quest Bars in each flavor that sounded good to me and find my favorites are the chocolate peanut butter and lemon cream pie, both from the all-natural line, so I'll be reordering them instead. But that's just a matter of taste - and if you love apple pie, you'll love the apple pie bar.

Not a good substitute for sweet whey in baking

Posted by Reviewer1222987 on Dec 14, 2011 | Verified Purchase

This is fine for its intended use, as a healthy food supplement. I'd ordered it hoping that it would also serve as a substitute for cow's milk whey in baking, since I'm recently lactose-intolerant and really miss the gluten-free bread I baked using whey. It doesn't work for that - not the same taste at all, and an odd brownish color. Too bad - but then again, it's not the use for which it's intended.
