Yacon Root syrup is great! David Wolfe (Raw Food demi-god) talked about it recently so I decided to try it. It's NON-glycemic! So it's actually good for hypoglycemics and diabetics. It tastes good like a sweet molasses and can be used in tea (or coffee) and doesn't alter the taste in a bad way like Stevia. If you're a sugar addict then nothing will replace the white drug but if you like natural, healthy, sweet stuff like fruit, yams, honey etc then Yacon Root syrup is a Great choice! I really really hope they come out with a pourable version with a spout. Scooping it out is very messy, gets on the side of the bottle so you have to wipe it up or you'll have ants.
Great taste when mixed in smoothies. Earthy and rich. I use 2 Tbs in each blender mix. Great for libido, energy and happiness.
I'm enjoying the Mesquite powder by Navitas Naturals. It has a great sweet and earthy taste. Not good for sweetening tea but very good in raw food smoothies. I don't use honey and certainly not sugar so Mesquite mixed with the fruit and Yacon Root syrup makes any smoothie extra good.
I've purchased Udo's for a few years now and the quality, taste, and high levels of omega's just can't be beaten. I use 2 Tbs in each blender smoothie for a big dose of Omega 3-6-9. Most oils and supplements focus on Omega 3 rendering them far less effective. All of my tests show excellent levels of positive HDL's and I'm in my 40's. Great price for it at iherb. I was surprised that it was shipped in a plain box for a few days as it needs to be refrigerated... before I buy again, I'll be researching to find out how that may affect the purity.
I really like this brand and the taste is very good. Excellent ingredients, iherb has an excellent price. Our local New frontiers has 6oz for $20 and iherb has the sensible 11oz for $17. Affordable and healthy. Because of the sweet taste (apple cinnamon) it really only works in fruit smoothies not raw vegetable smoothies. There are no added sugars in this product making it superior to commercial supermarket brands.
These Goji's are a bit hard but still tasty. As a snack they're better if soaked. I grind them in a "coffee" grinder for my raw super food smoothies. They are also good in naturally sweet medicinal teas.
I've had tastier Cacao but these certainly suffice, especially considering the price. I grind up the Cacao in a "coffee" grinder and add it to my raw super food smoothies. Cacao nibs are also good for moontime cramps so I eat them all day at that time. I make ChocaMacaLaca's based on our local Raw Food restaurant: banana, green powder or Spirulina, Maca, ground Goji's, Coconut Water (from can- not coconut milk like Thai Kitchen!), ground Cacao nibs, Cacao powder, raw Cacao butter, 1/2 tsp Mesquite powder, 2 ice cubes, splash of water- blend YUM. Energizing.
