The best zinc supplement

Posted by Reviewer2025838 on Mar 22, 2009 | Verified Purchase

Chelated zinc is the most bioavailable form of zinc. Most zinc supplements are treated by the body as waste since they aren't bound to something organic (food). This chelated zinc is bound with amino acids which the body processes as food. I'll use this product for life!

I'm sure it works for some people...

I'm sure it works for its intended purposes, but it also interferes with your thyroid. This is possibly the worst tasting thing I've ever used. I took it once but threw the rest of it away. I love Thorne Research products, but this one isn't right for me.

Good form of zinc

I have to watch my intake of copper so it's nice to find a zinc supplement that doesn't contain copper. I wish it was in a slightly lower dosage, though.

Great brand, great supplement

Posted by Reviewer2025838 on Jul 05, 2011 | Verified Purchase

I don't take them everyday, but I haven't noticed any gastro side effects when I do. My eyes have a tendency to get dry so my eye doctor recommended omega 3 supplements. I find it helps.

Gives me heart palpitations

Posted by Reviewer2025838 on Jun 19, 2012 | Verified Purchase

I think the nettle in this formula gives me heart palpitations. I tried taking MegaFood's multivitamins but they also contain nettle. I'm going back to Vitrin and need to find a different form of calcium.

Heart Palpitations

At first I loved this formula but I think I've figured out that the nettle in this product gives me heart palpitations. :-/

Like the dosage

Posted by Reviewer2025838 on Oct 30, 2011 | Verified Purchase

I like this form of zinc and the 15 mg dosage. Most zinc supplements come in 30 mg or higher. Be sure to take copper with zinc. I was taking zinc without copper and have some bone thinning and loss of skin elasticity. I take this with Thorne's copper now and the skin elasticity is returning.

Good for weight loss

Posted by Reviewer2025838 on Feb 20, 2011 | Verified Purchase

After reading some of the reviews here, I decided to try this brand of cinnamon. I've tried other brands in the past and saw no difference so I was a bit skeptical. I've always had a problem with my body storing excess fat so I had to watch carbs so closely. After age 50, that didn't even seem to help much as my weight crept up. I read Gary Taubes' last two books and understand that when your blood sugar rises, your body produces insulin which directs excess blood glucose into your fat cells. It's not simply calories in/calories out. Anyway, I started these as directed and I know my blood sugar is not spiking. My weight is slowly coming back down. I haven't been this bullish on a supplement in a long time. I'll take this stuff for life if it keeps working this way.

Great bioavailable magnesium

Posted by Reviewer2025838 on Nov 22, 2010 | Verified Purchase

Seems to be very bioavailable and you can scale the dosage to your particular needs. Just don't take magnesium (or grapefruit juice, for that matter) around the time you take prescription drugs because it can block absorption.
