Must have

Posted by iHerb Customer on April 20 2018 | Verified Purchase

I originall looked for nettle leaf to color my homemade soap naturally, then found out great benefits of it. Not only did it assuage my mother's seasonal allergy, it also improved my digestive issue. At first, I didnt like the smell of it, but its wonderful with honey, or even without now. Im reordering a bunch for mom again!!

Best product you can buy!

From Amanda McQuade Crawford’s book, a pharmacist who studied holistic medicine and graduated from the National Institute of Medical Herbalists), the nettle leaf tea is great for hay fever, allergies, will cure arthritis, and clear up your complexion. The reason is that it reduces inflammation, which is the root of most illness and disease. We are taught to take decongestants, antihistamines and steroids. The problem with these is that they dry out the mucous membranes making the problem worse instead of better. As time goes on, you need more of these things, not less. The holistic approach is to look at allergies as an immune issue to do with deep tissue health, cellular vitality, and not merely symptoms that are on the surface. When we use herbal medicine, were making changes from the very innermost level out to those surfaces so that the problem is cleared once and for all! Here is an allergy busting, medicinal Nettle Leaf Tea, which is not just a beverage tea. You can purchase the capsules, or tea bags, but they are not nearly as effective as the actual tea. The problem with bagged tea is that you do not know how old it is, which may render any benefit of plant useless. Here is the recipe for an infusion tea (a remedy prepared by soaking herbs in liquid). Use an infusion tea pot with a coffee plunger. 1 oz. (use kitchen scale) of organic Nettles and 1 pint of boiling water Before adding boiling water to nettles, take the boiling water and pour it first into a Pyrex glass measuring cup. The reason you do this is because you want some of the steam and heat to dissipate first. Directly, add it to the tea pot, and push the plunger down, leaving 2 in on the bottom. Steep for 10-15 min, no longer. Put a strainer over your tea cup, pour and drink. Add a little local honey, which is also excellent for allergies. To bring allergies under control, drink a cup a day for a few weeks. Or, during acute flare-ups, frequent smaller doses do a better job, - as follows: ¾ of a cup every 3 hours or 1/3 cup every hour until symptoms subsides. Never drink more than 4 cups per day. I have been ordering this for 7+ years and swear by it. My allergies and sinus infections are gone. It is also safe for children. Look up all of the cures for this product. Amanda McQuade Crawford apprenticed with a folk healer in Wales, who shared some of her most ancient recipes with her, many of them thousands of years old. And, remarkably, stinging nettles were the foundation of most of her allergy recipes. I was so lucky to have watched her show featured on the holistic channel "Veria" before it was pulled off the air! She gave many other holistic remedies too , which are in her books.

I give it in my horse feed as it's like a multivitamin for them. They love it.
