Mustard seed, one of the oldest of spices, adds warmth and heat to your dishes. It's spicy, peppery flavor goes well with other pungent spices like garlic and chilies.

A way to eat. The way to live.

We're here to fill your life with honest-to-goodness good food. The kind of food that you remember, deep down. Fresh. Wholesome. Brimming with flavor and life. It can only be found in organically grown foods.

Suggested Use

Use mustard in any dish where you want to add heat. It's helpful to know that mustard doesn't become really hot until a non-acid liquid (preferably cold) is added to the seed. (Water will release the heat, but vinegar won't, for example.) The best way to fully release the flavor, then, is to mix the seed with warm water for about ten minutes before adding it to a recipe. To stop the development of the flavor, on the other hand, you can add an acidic liquid, like lemon juice, vinegar, or wine, to your recipe.

To make your own condiment, mix ground mustard with vinegar and water (to suit your taste).

I love Simply Organic spices!

I love Simply Organic herbs/spices--and their lovely little jars. I bought a bunch from iHerb, and have used many of them, including this one--which I use often. One hint--if you're ordering a number of them, be sure to ask them to pack the box well. I ordered 10 or more bottles on one order, the box was rattling when I received it--they didn't pack the box well at all. Some boxes within were damaged (though the products inside were ok), and one bottle of oil was open in the bag it was packed in--it had only leaked 1.2oz. This order was delivered to westcoast Canada.

Great product. It was interesting that when I buy it second time it was more wet, first time it was dry like all spices, but this time it was like smokes paprika. But still very tasty with rich smell.

This is one the VERY best Mustard Powders iHerb sells. But should one eat mustard?

This is a VERY high quality product. Keeps fresh after opening, as this is in a glass jar and the metal lid closes tightly. . . when mustard seed powder is mixed with broccoli powder (1-2%; or 12-25mg per 250mg broccoli powder) the sulforaphane availability is increased when cooked, and the losses that would normally occur beyond 60°C instead occur above 90°C and cooking at a temperature that normally abolishes sulforaphane formation (8-12 minutes of boiling sous vide) has three-fold more sulforaphane when it is mixed with mustard seed. . . 100 grams of Mustard Oil Powder typically contains 42g Fat. Mustard oil, a relative of canola oil, is banned in the EU due to high levels of Erucic Acid. It is very safe when not eaten daily, but how much will accumulate over 70 years of daily consumption? Our livers do not break down all of the toxic Erucic Acid we eat; some is esterified into human tissues and organs as shown by postmortem studies. . . CONCLUSION: if you eat mustard, mix a tiny amount of Mustard Powder with a lot of Broccoli Powder . . . See my profile for more reviews!
