Nattokinase is an enzyme derived from "natto," a traditional fermented soy food popular in Japan. During the natto production process, non-GMO soybeans are boiled and fermented with friendly Bacillus subtilis bacteria producing nattokinase. Doctor's Best Nattokinase contains nattokinase enzyme with Vitamin K2 removed. Nattokinase has been shown to support a healthy circulatory system by helping to maintain normal fibrinogen levels in blood.

Have been taking this for about 7 years, and it is doing the trick on my renal stents. Stopping the fibrin from sticking to it. Good product.

Proteolytic enzymes like Nattokinase, Bromelain, Papain, Serrapeptase - what can we expect

Posted by iHerb Customer on Jan 18, 2018 | Verified Purchase

    1. An improvement of digestion, especially for people who use protein based diet. Reduces the time of the digestion process two times or more. It helps to avoid intestinal decay connected to the undigested protein. Therefore, such enzymes supplementation is important in most of digestive disorders. In this case proteolytic enzymes are applied during the meal. 2. Barely anyone knows what is the primary purpose of plant enzyme production (e. g. pineapple, papaya, kiwi fruit). These enzymes are used to dissolve plant parasite's protein. In order to combat parasites in the human body, enzymes are used overnight or during fasting (out of meal time). Apart from parasites, enzymes allow unwanted protein contamination, blood clots and in some cases even cysts and tumors to be removed. Moreover, enzymes help to overcome such pathogens as parasites and some persistent fungi like Candida. Some pathogens produce biofilms or exudates containing protein, which helps them to adhere to the host's tissues. Therefore, proteases are applied as an anti fungi-biofilm factor. Literature 1. I started taking Nattokinase as a natural alternative to Cumadin which my doctor had me on after I had a small stroke (TIA) in 2013. When on the Cumadin I was passing blood in my urine because of kidney stones so I had to get off it. After doing a lot of research and finding out about Natto I decided to start taking it. I started on another brand at a much higher price so my next step was to research different brands. I wound up with Doctor's Best because it has a reputation for quality control and excellent products at affordable prices. I've been taking one each morning and one before bedtime every day now for over three years and have had no further strokes. Now the disclaimer: I am on medication for hypertension and A-fib, with the exception of taking Natto in place of a blood thinner I see my cardiologist regularly and follow his medical advice (mostly) . I advised him I was taking Natto in place of Cumadin, he didn't like it but agreed it was my decision. And that's the point, you should do your own research if you're taking a blood thinner and want to get off it there are risks, I can't say with a medical certainty the Natto has prevented a stroke but it's my feeling that it has. I'm 69 and still working as a home improvement contractor , your results may differ from mine depending on over all health and lifestyle. I can promise nothing beyond the fact that Doctor's Best is a quality brand and their Nattokinase works for me. If you have Afib but have not yet had a stroke and your doctor has not put you on a blood thinner and are considering taking Natto my personal opinion would be to do that, it can't hurt and it may very well prevent you ever having a stroke to begin with. And it's affordable and has other benefits as well for circulation health. But in the end remember, your health your decision. Do your research.
