Rooibos is a mild, reddish-brown tea rich in antioxidants. Naturally caffeine-free, this slightly sweet and nutty brew can be enjoyed any time.

Botanical name: Aspalathus linearis

Rooibos (pronounced "roy-boss") is a broom-like member of the legume family of plants. It is made from the dried, oxidized young leaves and branches of Aspalathus linearis. Rooibos (translated from Afrikaans) means "red bush", which is why the tea is often refered to as bush tea or red tea. Used for centuries in South Africa, Rooibos is becoming more popular in Europe and the United States because of its lack of caffeine and smooth, mild flavor.

Rooibos is cultivated in the Cederberg region, which is a mountainous area north of Cape Town South Africa

Suggested Use

To enjoy, pour 6 oz boiling water over one teaspoon of tea. Steep 3-5 minutes, strain and serve immediately.

Fair trade certified organic rooibos tea (aspalathus linearis).

It was not of good quality Rooibos and lacked in aroma.

Rooibos Tea is great!

Tastes great, good antioxidant, no caffeine, no tannins, good for kidneys, diuretic, low in oxalic acid, naturally sweet.

Nice tea to wake up the taste buds - robust yet not over-powering flavor

Beautiful flavor, larger leaves

This tea is what I've been looking for. Tea bags don't do it, and loose tea usually comes in little gift-y tins. Organic is great, if it's really organic. QAI doesn't list Frontier's rooibos as one of the products, but there are a lot of them - I may have missed it. In any case, research on rooibos shows it has anti-cancer properties if you brew it really hot - between 180 degrees F and 200 degrees F. So I'm more concerned about that than flavor, but it's absolutely delicious: it has a lot of similarities to Thai tea, with that warm barky flavor. I put in a touch of soy creamer or have it plain every morning. No caffeine jitters, no insomnia (which I get from green tea). I'm very pleased with this tea.

the taste & smell are awful

so it's like 50% or rooibos and 50% of other oxidized herb. definitely it's 100% rooibos but like "overfermented". big disappointment. that's the first rooibos in my life that's NOT OK. and that strange & pity given the price & provider
