Agar is a red algae that is a unique vegetable substitute for gelatin. Called Agar Agar, it has been used as a food ingredient in the Far East for centuries.

Suggested Use

Agar can be used as a vegetable substitute for gelatin. Dilute 2 TBSP of Agar Powder in 1 pint of water or fruit juice. Cook for 5 minutes and then add fruit or vegetables. Pour into mold and refrigerate until hard.

Other Ingredients

Agar-Agar Powder (100% Pure).

NOW Agar Powder is derived entirely from natural seaweed.

Contains no sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg or preservatives.

making cashew cheese.

I do not know what to say about trying to make non dairy cheese. I got the recipe from veria living Youtube, demonstrated by chef gentry. I used agar-agar and all the ingredients required for this cheese making and followed the recipe to its letter. Every thing went so smooth. I transferred it into a glass container and refrigerated over night.The next morning I checked the cheese, I was surprised it did not harden up like what chef Gentry said "Refrigerate for 4 hours,it should become as hard as rock, so you could grate or slice it". This never happened although I made it twice and twice I got the same result. failed to harden up. Is there any way to get chef gentry opinion how this problem could be solved? Sorry I am not certain how to rate the product at this stage, I do not think the problem is the aga-agar. Thanks for your help and time. With my best regards.

Very good strong Agar. I use different proportions for different kinds of jelly. The recommended one is 2 tsp, I use 1 tsp and it is very strong.
