This is the kind of supplement I really hope I never have to use, but can literally save your life when things go wrong.

Awesome price! Each tablet contains 22.9mg of iodide (from 30mg potassium iodide)

To compare other brands keep in mind some of them like Iodoral state the dosage of the amount of iodide (from potassium iodide) and don't tell you the total amount of potassium iodide. This Now brand product states the dose as 30mg of potassium iodide without stating the dose of iodide contained. Using atomic masses for iodide and potassium we can work out (using stoichiometry) that potassium iodide contains 76.4% iodide. So 30mg of potassium iodide contains a dose of 22.9mg of iodide. The 12.5mg Iodoral contains 7.5mg iodide (we can calculate as being 9.8mg of potassium iodide) plus 5mg of iodine. Also the 50mg Iodoral contains 30mg of iodide (which we can calculate as being 39.2mg of potassium iodide) plus the 20mg of iodine. Hope that helps. As prescribed by my practitioner I take iodine & potassium iodide daily in the milligram doses. I usually use Lugol's solution but it is fiddly and tastes bad. I have to measure out my dose daily as even vege caps break open and do not hold Lugol's in liquid form. This brand contains only potassium iodide. I prefer a tablet or capsule that contains iodine as well as potassium iodide such as Iodoral or similar but since this product is so much cheaper it is okay for me for those occasional days when I'm away from home. I take iodine & potassium iodide because: After being diagnosed with thyroid disease from many blood tests over a year and a half period and an ultrasound showing a small thyroid cyst I was offered no explanation of the root cause or safe cure, only treatments with some serious side effects. I did lots of my own research and finally found a practitioner who has used milligram (not microgram) doses of iodine & iodide to cure thyroid disease. This was taken with the other complementary thyroid minerals & vitamins such as selenium, vitamin D, zinc). If you are interested please lookup videos & lectures from Dr. David Brownstein and Dr. Jorge Flechas regarding iodine and there is also good information written by professor of endocrinology Guy Abraham and others. These doctors and many others recommended to do the 24hr iodine loading test as they say it is the most accurate test to determine if you have an iodine deficiency. It is recommended to do such a test before considering taking daily milligram doses of iodine / iodide, unless you are in an area of a nuclear disaster in which case the FDA and the WHO (World Health Organisation) recommend to take 130mg of potassium iodide per day to keep the thyroid from uptaking the radioactive iodine from the fall out which is likely to cause thyroid cancer. (eg. for the first 3 months after Chernobyl)

Don't use it every day, but a good idea in our radioactive age.

Jodas – dalyvauja hormono tiroksino gamyboje. Dėl tiroksino trūkumo plonėja oda, slenka plaukai ir lūžinėja nagai.
