Product Overview

Description

  • Artisan Quality
  • Fresh
  • Anxi 'Ben Shan' Varietal
  • Brews 50 Cups
  • Pure Leaf Teas

Origin

Anxi, Fujian, China Green Dragon oolong is grown in the mountains of Anxi county, the home of oolong tea plant varietals (at least 12) growing in Anxi, each with its own distinct flavor profile. The most famous of these varietals is Tieguanyin. Green Dragon (Ben Shan varietal) is a young varietal (a clonal), grown primarily near Raoyang village in Anxi. It has strong, heavy branches and brightly colored, distinct, elipse shaped leaves. It shares some similarities in fragrance with the Tieguanyin varietal.

Greener Oolong

Oolongs range in their flavor (mild and floral to strong and toasty) and color spectrum (from light green to dark) depending on the processing technique adopted. Green Dragon is a greener oolong with low oxidization.

Sun Withering

For Green Dragon, mature leaves are plucked and then 'withered' in the sun (weather permitting) to reduce moisture.

Traditional Rollling

Once suitable suppleness is achieved in the leaves rolling techniques (which include wrapping the leaves in cloth and binding it tightly into ball shape) are applied with light roastings.

Roasting

Successive re-rolling and re-roastings are done to achieve the optimum shape and flavor. A final roast is given to complete the processing.

Flavor Profile

Smooth, golden infusion with grassy, toasty and light floral notes.

The Tao of Tea

Like the Tao, the art of tea is universal. We began our work with tea in 1997 to be a connecting thread for tea culture. Practicing the art on a daily basis in our teahouses in Portland, Oregon, we are a group of tea enthusiasts from different backgrounds and cultures. We travel, learn, take delight and seek to offer pure leaf teas with great flavor, artistry and soul. Our reward comes through actions that help people's lives, sustain the art of tea and promise a healthy environment.

Suggested Use

Brewing Green Dragon

Brew one teaspoon of leaf in twelve ounces of pure spring or filtered water at 185f for four minutes. Provides at least two infusions.

Oolong tea leaves.

I found my perfect green tea. Taste is very gentle. Cold still tasty.

Thanks for your feedback!

Very earthy, light flavor

This oolong is so delicate, I thought I had underbrewed it the first time I made it. It has a very light green color to it that is incredibly appealing in my pot. It smells of fresh leaves and the ground once it starts to rain. The flavor is less smoky than your average oolong, but I really like it.

Thanks for your feedback!

Nice evening tea

I like it because it is not strong, light color, after some time all leaves unfold and you get mild taste of green tea
