How much equivalent curcumin is in each capsule?

Best Answer
According to Wikipedia, turmeric powder contains 1~6% curcuminoids (which aren't necessarily curcumin). This product is a powder + extract blend, with unspecified powder/extract ratio, and unspecified curcuminoid content for the extract. Powder+extract blends commonly have 9:1 powder to extract ratio, and extracts commonly have 95% curcuminoid content, so optimistically, you'd expect about 70mg curcuminoids per capsule. However, with so many unknowns, each capsule might contain as low as 30mg curcuminoids.

Why do some turmeric capsules have black pepper. I’ve read that it helps absorption. But is this true. This one doesn’t have it. Must be a reason why.

Sometimes, the use of black pepper (bioperine) can lead to adverse effects such as skin problems, liver alteration, allergic reactions, nausea, diarrhea, black stools, constipation, and acid reflux. That is why there are capsules without black pepper.

Hi there, To my knowledge I’m unsure about this, however there is no distinct taste from the product and the bottle which I examined thoroughly does not indicate this ingredient. It mentions rice bran oat fiber etc but no mention of black pepper. It’s a useful product for keeping inflammation at bay. I hope this helps.

Turmeric is used to flavor various food dishes, especially in Indian cuisine. So ,it would be quite alright for you to add it to food or drink, preferably a warm or hot tea. Hope this helps!
