One of the best adaptogens you can find!!!
Posted by -adaptogenius- on Dec 17, 2013
Stay healthy and fight against everyday stress with Rhodiola Rosea or Golden Root, one of the best adaptogens you can find (together with Ashwagandha) with so many benefits. It is just amazing how one herb can make you calm and reduce the stress and anxiety, but in the same time gives you a lot of energy and keeps you motivated whole day. This is probably unique characteristic, keeps you calm but makes you active and focused. It gives you more confidence because you stay calm during some stressful situations and you become more stress resistant. It makes you motivated for every task you have to. It makes you smart! To, to say this in simple way, it makes you happy and you will enjoy your life more. Because of this motivation it gives, rhodiola is also used by people who do sport or go to gym. It amps up your energy. It reduces cortisol level (major stress hormone... less cortissol=more muscles and hair :) This results in, predictably, improved memory and focus, better energy levels, increased resistance to sickness, and significantly better insulin response. Keep in mind that on the market you can find many products but you will not have the same benefits from all of them. Therefore it's important to choose the right product and NOW foods is the one you can always trust and you don't have to spend a lot of money. This caps are standardized to 3% of rosavins (the active part) and this is standard % you can find (there are some with more like Jarrows, but this is not needed. I will explain why). It says on the bottle that you have to take 2 caps daily. But this caps are filled with 500 mg of strong extract and this is just too much! Be careful when taking rhodiola! Less is more and I felt this on my own skin. When I tried this product for the first time I was taking 2 caps per day and this was 1000 mg of strong extract per day. My anxiety level went all up high and I had one of the worst anxiety and panic attacks ever with heart palpitations, sweating, sleeping problems... I decided to quit rhodiola....After a month I read that according to research the daily intake depends on the % of rosavin extract: 100-170 mg./day for 3,6% rosavin extract, 180-300 mg./day 2% rosavin extract, 360-600 mg./day 1% rosavin extract. I can confirm that this is completely right! Now I split the capsule in 3 parts and take only cca 166 mg per day (early in the morning). I feel great! Like never before and I hope that this great feeling will last forever. I'm completely calm, relaxed but again full of energy, motivation and positive thinking. No more sleeping problems. If you decide to take rhodiola do not take more than it is needed. If you want, you can try to split capsule in two parts (just open the capsule and spill part of the content into juice or directly into mouth and take juice or water (It's not that bad :). Like this you will make 120 portions and this will last for 4 months!!! Just keep in mind, less is more when you take rhodiola! You can have opposite and unexpected reaction if you take too much. This herb is just too strong to be taken in higher doses. This is the reason why I sad that it's beetter to aviod extracts stronger than 3% rosavins. One more thing... when taken with coffee you will feel extra, but really extra rush of energy. If anxiety will be present, you can always take Ashwagandha (like me) to reduce the anxiety. They make one of the best possible stack you can take each morning! This mix is worth trying (rhodiola+ashwagandha)!!!
I swear by it!

It is a supplement I can't live without! It gives me mental and physical energy when I need it the most. I take it before workouts and I have more stamina. I also take it when I work long and stressful hours in the office. It makes me calmer and more optimistic. Another good Rhodiola product is by Thorne Research. Click on my username for more reviews! There's one thing you should know about Now's Rhodiola: It's dose dependant. These are the results of my experiments with it: -1 Pill at breakfast and it's a very good mood booster. It activates you for the whole day and it increases your confidence and productivity. It also increases your sex drive and a general feeling of well being. It feels a bit like if you had taken 4 coffees. Be sure to take it early in the morning or else it will keep you awake at night - 1/2 Pill taken before sleep and it just knocks you out. It does just the opposite that the whole pill. You get very very sleepy in just 20 minutes and you need to go to bed. The sleep quality is a bit light but I'm sure a lot of people could get benefit from this usage.
Rhodiola has been so helpful!

I started taking Rhodiola when I moved across the world, was having tremendous trouble with anxiety and some depression, and didn't want to take a pharmaceutical. A therapist recommended I try Rhodiola, and I am so glad I did. Within five days, I started to feel like myself again, and within two weeks, I was truly out of the constant cycle of anxiety and misery. Rhodiola of course isn't a cure-all, but has certainly been an amazing tool for me to battle my mental difficulties without synthetic chemicals.
Very good---but important to note potential side-effects.

Rhodiola has given me my mind back, in a lot of ways. I'm much sharper and more creative---it's definitely palpable. However, I have a rather weak and fragile constitution to begin with, and I find it makes me slightly jittery. I also suspect it may be to blame for my blood sugar crashes (I have hypoglycemia)..this coincided with switching to a gluten-free diet, however, so only experimentation will tell. I've read varying reports about its effect on blood sugar, some saying it's positive, and some saying it's negative. So, it's important to be aware of that. Lately my low blood sugar attacks have been sudden and severe. I've had to eat much more to keep up with it. Again, I can't be positive there is a correlation, but I want to warn any potential customers that it may be possible. Aside from those drawbacks, I experience a bit of restlessness during sleep. Regardless, this is a marvelous product that has cut through my mental fog. For a healthier person, I suspect it may just be miraculous. After years of not being able to write anything (major case of writer's block!) I've begun writing poetry and prose. It flows so naturally---and my wit is a little sharper, too. I'm going to experiment by taking no rhodiola tomorrow, and seeing how it affects my hypoglycemia. I will update if possible.

First time Ive taken Rhodiola. Offers nice calm with focus. Similar to Bacopa but Id say Bacopa calms the mind and offers a hint more focus yet doesnt calm the body as much (adrenal system etc). Rhodiola seems to relax me more. Both are great herbs I will alternate between.
This appears to be working

No idea if it's in my head but definitely less stressed and calmer now even when things that use to get my goat at work pop up I seem to handle them better. Not nearly as depressed and more active with more energy. I will be staying with this. The price here is the best I've found too.
Didn't work for me...

I have mild hypothyroidism, so I thought these would be a real help. I usually take a multi-vitamin supplement; I took these in conjunction with 150mg of Integra-Lean Irvingia, which in retrospect was probably my worst idea ever. But as someone who is very susceptible to caffeine (I cup of coffee a day is my limit)I was only able to try these for about 8 days. In that time I suffered major league anxiety, horrible bloating, gained five pounds and when i didn't have horrible, not-able-to-sleep-a-wink insomnia for three days straight, I had the most traumatic nightmares. Four days after i stopped taking these, I'm back to my usual happy calm self, the bloating has gone along with the extra weight. I don't blame this product, I know I'm just really sensitive to stimulants so these really didn't work for me.
its a miracle

As a woman living with hypothyroid for 10 yrs, losing weight has been impossible. Ive been taking NOW brand Rhodiola for 4 weeks and have lost 6lbs (for me that is truly amazing!!) It has liberated me from cravings and seriously decreased my appetite. I reduced my calorie intake without feeling deprived or irritable. I started taking it to prevent another winter with S.A.D. and I am amazed at all the things it has improved! I definitely have more energy and things that usually "set me off" (like my kids) don't seem to anymore. Another nice benefit - no PMS! I wasn't able to multi-task very well and now I can whiz through tasks much faster than before. I know certain things work for certain people- but I have tried everything under the sun for weight loss and increasing energy-but this seems to work for EVERYTHING! So I think everyone should try it!
Post exertional fatigue.

I take these on and off to help me get back into exercise after illness or a break whilst travelling. Seems to cut down the general feeling of exhaustion and pain. ( I have CFS/ME & Lupus)
