A new study by Ohio State University researchers (published online in the journal Brain, Behavior, and Immunity) found that omega-3 supplements boosted preservation of tiny DNA segments called telomeres. They shorten over time in many types of cells as a consequence of aging. Stopping this shortening of telomeres has long been thought to be a key to halting the aging process or at least slowing it down.
