I used to suffer from clinical depression, however, for years I didn't respond to any of the conventional medications. After a long research I learned about 5HTP and I have been taking it on and off for 15 years now. I don't suffer from chronic depression anymore but every once in a while I might get an episode here and there, and when that happens I take 5HTP. I take 50mg 1hr before I go to bed with a glass of water (from all the research I have done it's not recommended to have milk because it might interfere with the absorption). From my research it is recommended a person starts taking 50mg for 5 days then if needed go up to 100mg. I have always taken 50mg; it has worked the best for me. I'm not a doctor, but I am a person that knows quite well what it means to suffer from depression for many, many years and when all medications failed, 5HTP always helped me. This is a brand I've always been able to trust, so thought I'd try it for depression. For anyone who has trouble with melatonin or other drugs (side effects, heart palpatations, nervousness, etc.) as I do, I'd recommend to try 5HTP this way, in a small dosage. I take one capsule in the morning with breakfast and one before bed and find I'm getting more energy, if nothing else. Not sure yet if it's helping a lot with the depression but I am sleeping better. Have to give it a little longer on the depression. Also, do take it with food as it can upset your stomach!

5htp is verg unpredictable as you can see from many peoeples reviews I took it for the serotonin (happy feeling) and to sleep. Tried a lot of different dosages , bought a lot of bottles . I couldnt sleep and felt.more anxious almost any time. When i completely cut it, i was way much better and i could sleep mofe easily.
