I personally have taken porcine-dessicated thyroid prescription medication since 2005 only and no over the counter supplements. This year, lots of problems getting prescription thyroid gland at the pharmacy, I got a different dose lower, than usual and took it 12 weeks or longer. I had allergic rashes that blistered and swelling of my skin all of sudden off and on. Hives started and it forced me to look at everything I take so that anything new would be suspect. I already stopped gluten. Any potential causes were investigated. So I stopped the porcine thyroid gland. I started this supplement in a pinch, hoping I could continue to just survive, hoping for energy improvement. I contemplating going back to Synthroid and Cytomel, again. Trying this supplement I got much more. I wrote my doctor to inform her, about the changes. I have continued on this and have not taken anymore prescription medication thyroid medication prescribed to me. So how this supplement works in the human thyroid since the T4 is removed requires some explanation. Despite having a thyroid problem, I must have some thyroid cells that still work. In this case, it wouldn't work I suppose and I wouldn't feel any better perhaps worse.
